Bomb hoaxer who called on own phone arrested, jailed

BANGKOK: -- A Metropolitan Electricity Authority employee who made a bomb threat against Government House yesterday morning was quickly arrested and sentenced to three months in jail in the afternoon.

Somjit Promsak, 50, a C5 worker, was arrested at his house in Lat Krabang district about noon by Phaya Thai police.

He admitted telephoning 191 police on his mobile, giving the false name Somsak na Nakhon and saying he had planted explosives in three places at Government House that morning.

Police tracked him down from his phone number and arrested him after an explosives unit had combed Government House and found no sign of a bomb.

The suspect told police his crime was not motivated by any personal conflict, but by drunkenness. He had a drinking session with friends on Wednesday night before waking up to join the protest against the privatisation of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

He was arraigned in Dusit Court and sentenced to six months in jail, cut to three months because he confessed.

So let's deport him. As a matter of fact let's deport even Thais that do not have a 400,000 Baht annual Income. I think this would really be a quiet place suddenly. :o
