1 hour of rain, 3 hours of flooding

Plastic bags, Styrofoam cups and all sorts of rubbish were seen clogging the drainage outlet near Soi Khao Noy.

PATTAYA:--Rainy season is setting in again and that means its back to flooding as usual, with just an hour of rain June 5 leaving the Pattaya paralyzed.

The usual areas, such as Third Road, were 30-60 centimeters deep in storm runoff while the Soi Sompoi-Sukhumvit area was littered with disabled low-hung vehicles and motorbikes.

At the intersection near the Mum Aroi restaurant on Third Road, people needed a boat to cross the street.

Sois Khao Noi and Khao Talo became running rivers with water streaming downhill toward the railway and Soi Nernplabwan was hard hit as well.

However, Pattaya authorities were seen out and about with pumps to help drain the floods. Beach Road showed little improvement from the installation of three new drainage pipes earlier this year.

Relief for Beach rd. is in sight whistling.gif

The pumps/pipelines were a waste of money.

So let's dig a culvert and off to the sea with all the trash.

Maybe if the locals of Soi Khao Noi didnt drop that crap everywhere the drains wouldn't get clogged?

You are right.

But some public bins would help. Seven 11/family mart staff ever clean the front of their shops either.

And the tesaban never cleans the street.

Rubbish everywhere and it never gets cleaned up. The only time the Soi is looks clean is when a big rain washes all the rubbish away.

The drain at the bottom always has rubbish stuck in it.

The whole kaotalo koanoi loop has piles of rubbish, starting at the big block of land on Kaotalo sukhumvit intersection all around.

The temple school also sticks out as having rubbish everywhere.

Same crap year after year

30 years ago it was just the same as it is today

Styrofoam boxed was not used 30 years ago and it might be some new and fancy packaging that will clog the drains in 30 years. Pattaya is developing in its own weird way.

Can you elaborate on this please? I'm interested in hearing how the flooding situation in Pattaya was the same 30 years ago.

The reason I'm interested is that I find it hard to believe there were flooding issues at that time, before all the condo developments, concreting every square inch in site, mass migration without any thought about planning or infrastructure, etc.

To add to that, natural drainage would appear to have been sufficient (plenty of open, rural ground) with a nearby run off into the sea.

Good, lets hope it will rain all day so we can erase WS from the map.

It is unique. Like an experiment gone wrong with mutations everywhere

There is no flooding now, everything is fixed and paid for. Do not spread propaganda about flooding, you are just trying to give Pattaya a bad image!
