This really turn things on his head. Boonchai Bencharongkul is highly critical of Thaksin policies and now in the same camp as Thaksin? Or the myth about the wat owe its allegiance to Thaksin is busted? So the Wat is not really Red. Lots of red faces ihere who keep harping on the wat pivot to Thaksin and the Red theory.

Interesting point... and relevant.

To what extent - if any - is Wat Dhammakaya a front for the Reds?

Thaksin has been silent on the issue, unless I've missed something.

Is he the eminence grise in this showdown, or is he really uninvolved?

No, it's never dull in Thailand, that's one of its charms.

Never a dull moment it is. Back in 2010, infamous or fame Khun Sulak actually accused the Ahbisit government of financing Wat Dhammakaya. It was denied obviously.

Just how long will the government be prepared to let this continue and allow the abbot's reputation and invincibility to rise among his followers ?

It won't go away in a hurry but I can't see the authorities ever running run out of excuses to explain their lack of action.

Don't know the " well known" businessman, but maybe it's advisable that he also get investigated concerning this case.

I doubt very much that he would enjoy that, he would probably be well advised to stop sticking his head above the parapet.

It's not rare for two criminal organisations to endorse each other for mutual benefit. That a member of one is critical of the other doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I do see your point. 2008 judiciary coup followed by the Dem and the military working together for mutual benefit to form the government inside a army barrack. Criminal and you are spot on.

DTAC STOCKS ARE DROPPING. Obviously, society understands that the UFO temple is a scam.

Well, or more likely analysts realize that the junta will be all over the company now, making all kinds of trouble. I'm willing to predict that DTAC will lose all bids for new frequencies now and that financial accounts are going to be heavily scrutinized until something fishy is found.

True folks must be very happy these days. With AIS still somewhat smelling the odor of former owner Thaksin and DTAC now getting on the blacklist...

Definitely on the cards, though it was probably on the cards and waiting for a reason before. The only problem for the dynamic duo is that if DTAC goes, the probable beneficiary will be AIS and not TRUE.

AIS? Can't have that. Nossir.

More likely they're worried that someone may have been making billion baht donations to buy his way into the new concept of Buddhist heaven. I'd rather invest in a company where the CEO is more interested in current secular happenings rather than his alleged "life after death."

That's a distinct possibility, indeed.

A historic moment. We are witnessing a new Thaksin in the making.

if this had anything to do with Thaksin, then then monk would have been dragged out by his by his pubic hairs. The guy is aligned to Prayuth and his rich mates, that is why nothing is being done.

That may stem from the rather naive belief that Thaksin is responsible for all the ills of Thailand. This view is usually the result of a Thai (who enjoys a close relationship of some kind) telling them that. The KittyKat motivation is very strong. Ulterior motives 'r' us.

W

You're clueless, Winnie.

The Shinawarta clan is rotten to the core.

This corrupt family has been a plague on Thailand.

No, they're not responsible for all the ills, but getting them out of politics would be a good first step.

Freeze the temple's bank accounts.

Seize their assets.

Do the same to all those who support their stance against the legal investigation of this sect's involvement in a fraud that left many people financially destitute.

Take all monies seized and distribute it to those affected by the fraud.

See how long this allegedly fraudulent and apparently very wealthy holy man is considered worth protecting then.

Have you ever speculated on what a desirable piece of real estate that temple has been for a long time, or how much influence that Abbot has with people all over the world now with his vision for world peace, (35 countries when the article below was written).

Or ever considered how far certain people might go to defame someone with his authority over followers that makes him almost as dangerous, as say JFK was with his ideals like stopping the war in Vietnam so that 50 years later we're still learning about all the brainwashing and deception went on trying to convince people that big money and crime had nothing to do with his demise.

I'm forgetting there's no corruption, no big money in Thailand and most of all nobody capable of pulling off a scam of any large scale when nobody gets away with anything, especially the monks and their crime syndicates.

I'll go back on my meds now wondering if the Pope's a Catholic and how Mary could have been a virgin when she had a son who got hung on a cross for everyone to see for foolish things like giving his followers the idea to sarcastically carry a soldier's things futher than required.

Think of all the revenue lost just by tobacco and alcohol companies .....

But is it?

Interesting article from 2007. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2007/10/11/headlines/headlines_30052036.php

As Thai monks are the spiritual or opinion leaders in society, politicians flock to them to get support and, by association, hope to win votes from the people.

The Democrats, particular Sanan Khachornprasat as well as Chuan Leekpai, have found a sanctuary at Wat Cholprathan Rangsarit.

Wat Thammakai of Thamma Chaiyo in Pathum Thani has become a political base for the now-defunct Thai Rak Thai.

Lung Phor Khoon of Wat Ban Rai in Nakhon Ratchasima is the rendezvous for the Northeastern politicians, who come to let him knock on their heads as a blessing. Luangta Mahabua of Wat Pa Ban Tad in Udon Thani has also earned respect from the Northeastern politicians, as well as media tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul.

All of these opinion-leader monks are in their eighties, while the Supreme Patriarch is in his early nineties.

Sounds like this monks, politics and politics and business elites, etc, .. thing has been going on for years, decades possibly millenia in Thailand.

Thaksin tried to infiltrate this fake Buddhist sect. The rich middle class followers of the sect refused.

Unfortunately, Mr Boonchai doesn’t know he’s appealing for a lost cause: “Luang Por is like the guiding light for people of the world,” he said, adding “peace will be restored in the world if everyone sits down for meditation.”

It’s his belief to express freely and legitimately, but without one or the other of either knowing or, though far less likely, acknowledging and taking into account that the Light of the World and Prince of Peace, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” and about the elusiveness of peace "And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet”.

Thanks for the response.

I'll assume your sources are credible and take your word for it.

The Shinawatras' no doubt have considerable support among lay members of this sect, but if the family isn't involved pulling strings directly then it's probably not a political force to be reckoned with. At least not as things stand now.

But who knows what will go down in the near future?

The Dragonhead isn't going to accept the status quo indefinitely.

His joking right? Luang por or Phra Dhammachayo is the guiding light for the people of the world? He has to be kidding or he is a complete numbskull. He may be a guiding light for the thieves, fraudsters, money launderers, liars and other assorted criminals but definately not the rest of the world.

Lol! Let's do a worldwide poll...

Maybe he is saving us, and we don't know it?!

If this becomes a democracy thing, it could be very interesting

Found this on the net:-

http://www.dhammakayauncovered.com/opinion-1/2016/6/18/new-high-tech-communication-device-invented

Dr. Mano Laohavanich is a renowned Dhammakaya critic and expert and is seen as being a highly credible source on all things Dhammakaya by those who do not believe in evidence. This breakthrough in technology is just the latest in new information about the mysterious temple from Dr. Mano. Dr. Mano had previously revealed to the world that Dhammakaya is actually aNazi sympathizing temple bent on world domination. As usual, he provides absolutely no evidence of his claims but we figure as an extremely anti-Dhammakaya personality he wouldn’t be making something like that up.

Laohavanich has also revealed that the abbot of Wat Phra Dhammakaya had alifetime visa to the United States, showing the world that even though the United States discontinued all lifetime visas over 15 years ago that you just can't trust the US Department of State about facts involving US visas. It is much better to believe in a self-proclaimed genius.

Freedom Watch International Discusses US Congressman's Visit to Dhammakaya

http://freedomwatchinternational.org/freedom-watch-international-discusses-us-congressmans-visit-dhammakaya/

On June 6, 2016, United States Representative Earl Blumenauer for Oregon’s 3rd Congressional District visited a Dhammakaya affiliated center, the Oregon Meditation Center in Portland. Members of the center expressed their concerns to the congressman about the current investigation of Ven. Dhammajayo of Wat Phra Dhammakaya in Thailand.

A US Army Veteran also shared his struggle with PTSD after being deployed in Afghanistan in a public speech to the Congressman. He discussed how meditation helped him during his treatments and how he founded a group called “Meditation for PTSD Military” to help other veterans with similar problems during the visit.

The United States Congressman has agreed to submit the petition and the details about the case to US Secretary of State John Kerry to look into the actions and methods of DSI.
