Hi I recently applied to the consulate in Dublin for a six month METV, this morning I received my passport and visa, the visa says Non Immigrant O no of entry M.Date of issue 20 June 2016, enter before 19 June 2017. I am travelling on July 1 and I wonder if I've got the proper visa

Thanks

Well, given what you say you certainly don´t seem to have a METV.... :-) But you have a valid visa nonetheless...... never heard about this happening before, though. Others will surely provide more insight based on experience.

You can, the visa you say you have in your pp is valid for 12 months and you will be stamped into the country for 90 days each time ...

Out of curiosity and I hope you don´t mind me asking: Are you over the age of 50?

It looks to me like they gave you a Non O multi entry visa good for one year.

Each entry to Thailand will get you a 90 day stay permission to stay stamp on arrival as long as that visa is still valid for one year.

If you want to, you can exit Thailand just a ay before that visa expires, then re-enter immediately, and get another 90 day

entry permission to stay stamp.

That way, if you want to, your one year visa can be legally stretched to 15 months.

At least if that is what you want.

What age range are you in ? This can make a difference...

50+

65+ ?

Yes, I asked that question above and look forward to hearing his answer to it.

Nonetheless, if he applied for a METV then clearly he didn´t get what he applied for. Not saying that this is detrimental to his travel plans but clearly someone seems to have made a mistake. Either the OP when ticking the appropriate box on the application form or the consulate in Dublin. :-)

You have a far better visa than the one you asked for. Maybe, they like you for some reason and gave you the almost extinct one-year, multiple Non O "social" visa.

What's the distinction between being 64 and 65 with a nonO then?

In the UK you need to be 65 or over to get a multiple entry non-o visa. Same for a single entry non-o visa.

He got his at 60 since he is apparently Irish and applied in Dublin.
