Place of birth on Thai Passport !

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Currently, for thai citizens born abroad, thai passport lists only the country of birth, i.e. if someone born in Sydney, the thai passport will show place of birth as Australia, not Sydney/NSW. I was asking if anyone knew whether it was possible to put city/province of birth instead of only listing the country?

Yeah, my Thai PP has only ever listed 'Australia'.

If Thai authorities want more detail I bring along my Thai BC issued in oz staring my exact locale of birth.

Not possible. I asked the DO why? The official politely answered that the field is a 'choice-popup' which has the 77 Thai provinces and the names of 'all' countries of the world only.

Yep, for those born in Thailand it is only the province.

No more detail (city, district, village).

Only a birth certificate will show those details.

And, only the Province name as of the date of birth. In many cases, the province has later been divided and a new province created, but the original province name remains on the passport.

That pretty much explains that it'll be impossbile to put anything other than a foreign country name, since there's no custom text field available
