Russia reacts to the Brexit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected allegations by British Prime Minister David Cameron that Russia would welcome Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.

“The British people have decided to leave the European Union. We have never interfered with the process,” said the Russian President. “Apparently, some formal procedures associated with this vote will follow. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation.”

“Britain has voted to leave the European Union and I think others will follow suit,” announced Leader of Russia’s nationalist Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky. “NATO, the Schengen Agreement and the euro will fall apart. So hail the Russian Ruble and the development of relations between Russia and the democratic nations of Europe.”

“Cameron’s political fate was bound to this referendum,” explained Foreign Committee of the State Duma Alexei Pushkov. “He used Russia and Putin to scare people. This didn’t help him and after that of course, he had to resign.”

Vladimir Putin said on Friday he did not expect Britain’s vote would influence the economic sanctions imposed on Russia but announced that he was ready for dialogue with the European Union.

Hmm. Vlad the prescient Russian. smile.png

Of course he welcomes it, he's just a bit of cold fish at showing emotion... for Russia, all is good when the EU is weakened.

No doubt he finds it amusing, but the referendum had nothing to do with Russia, surveys suggest the number one leave reason was immigration, then followed by sovereignty. That aside UK is still part of NATO, but why miss a chance for the media to drag Putin into it?

Actually, the residual attitude of the EU toward Russia with their sanctions might just soften the tiniest little bit. ...Until Vlad invades another country and that'll pretty much put an end to that.

Have to disagree with you on Putin had nothing to do with it. Putin is a sharp character who has long termed plans to disrupt the USA and western Europe. One of their best tactics is to send refugees to the west in an effort to cause political turmoil, which played heavily with what has just happened in the UK.

Putin loves the liberals that welcomes all comers with open hands, such as liberal PM's educated from Oxfam. Russia backed Serbia, in both Bosnia and Kosovo. Practically with Kosovo it was their intent to send all the Albanians to Europe. The Russian alliance in Syria conducts the same strategy and that is why they don't allow aid into Syria as the goal is to starve and run the Sunni Muslims to Europe.

Though refugees come from all over, the immigration crisis is predominantly the mid eastern flow. Putin is wiser than his EU counterparts, he don't take refugees from wherever.

What.

What exactly leaded you to this conclusion?.. What imaginary refugees sending you're talking about?

bassman, everything is very simple, Russia conducts independent foreign policy and will never be a dog on US laps (like EU is ) ready to do whatever the master orders.

“Apparently, some formal procedures associated with this vote will follow"

Er, yes, well, you see, the thing is! And I know this is going to sound a bit funny, but......
