Checked luggage and taking a liter of Thai Brandy to USA

Am I safe with a liter of Thai brandy if I put it in my checked luggage flying on Delta Airlines to the USA? It would be in the original box and not opened of course. I leave Monday early and was thinking of taking a bottle to a friend there.

Don't see why not, as long as it is checked luggage. I have taken alcohol from the UK to the USA a number of times.

should be okay, just declare it on your US customs 6059 form irregardless of the duty free exemption (they will not tax you).

I have taken alcohol back to US as well as items such as bottled fish sauce etc.

you should pack it so the bottle does not break or crack.
