NACC holds public-speaking competition on corruption

BANGKOK, 27 June 2016 (NNT) - The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has held a public speaking competition for high school students on the topic of corruption, in order to instill consciousness towards eliminating corruption.

NACC Deputy Secretary-General Chairat Khanittabuth chaired the panel's annual, public-speaking competition. High school students from across the country will get to select one of three topics, namely "The mechanisms for eliminating corruption", "How one can contribute to eliminating corruption", and "The reason why Thailand lacks transparency".

Six candidates will be selected from each region through a preliminary round from June to August. The final round will take place in September. The winner will receive certificates and prize money on the anniversary of the NACC on November 18.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Are they serious? Oh, this country is the hub of jokers! I am sure they will not fail to provide each participating student with a firmly fitting gag around their mouth. Just when I thought things could not become more reality-denying and ludicrous here. Heaven help these people in their self-deceit!

Please please please please let there be english transcripts, this is gonna be great.

I wanted to report corruption to the NACC but my lawyer told me that it is impossible because they are too corrupt!

NACC holds public-speaking competition on corruption

And the second headline:

Winner was found to be wearing a watch that fed him the answers.

I'm sure that teachers will decide what students can say. Censorship before the event. There may be student protestors who are still in high school. I wonder if any of them will try to speak? There are certain things which can be done to end corruption but you may not be able to bring them up in public legally. One wrong word or sentence could get a student sued. My expectations = boring.

One must congratulate the education department for allowing the NACC to hold such a prestigious competition, although the candidates that would win hands down weren't there, one can be reassured that the future leaders of Thailand are aptly Catered for and this point has not been missed on the education departments throughout the world, who are forgetting the Brexit hiccup and concentrating on Thai corruption as a degree......................cheesy.gif

Say the wrong thing, that is any critical comments, and reward is arrest or attitude adjusting.

I heard that the first question was, who is your hero and the lad replied Thaksin , he now faces 69 charges under section 44 of course the answer to this question we all know Yingluck.....................cheesy.gif

good looking forward to it.

After all the speeches were edited, the final result was that everyone tied for first place. The winning speech: "Good Evening. Delete. Delete. Delete......Delete....Thank You.":

Students should know a lot about corruption in the school system. The education system is second only to the police in when it comes to petty corruption in Thailand. No need to speak of where the heavy duty corruption lies.

It is just possible...that there are a few people in Thailand...even the NACC who want the younger generation to take a different path to prosperity from the older generations...actually work and produce for the economy...without falling prey to corrupt practices...

Give them a chance...have to start somewhere...

If you think this is just a Thai humorous moment...insincere and without merit...then put forward your on plan for changing the culture...

That's what I thought...

I just hope they have time limits on the answers.

There is zero potential for a change in Thai culture until the present management departs, and I don't mean humpty and dumpty, they're just the hired muscle, and I don't mean change, I mean departs. Without the option.

The real management prefer to hide in the shadows of their cash mountains, preaching to the people who do the actual work in Thailand about loyalty and the '3 pillars' while putting both hands up to the elbows in the people's pockets. The Thais, always ever-so-slightly dim, mistake this for the blandishments of love and concern, and like most people needing to be loved, respond by saying 'help yourself. here you missed some...".

Every good stand-up comic needs a shill. Morecambe had his Wise, Berine had his Mike, Stan had his Ollie and the current management have theirs, whom they have seduced with promises of fulfilling a wet-dream and a percentage of the profits of their concessions. In return, they get a laying-on of hands and a blessing for laying waste to the Temple and raping the Vestal Virgins.

One day, Thais will wake up. Unless I miss my guess, that day is close, when the shill will exit stage left, I suspect it will happen sooner than the management like (after all, he is already 95) - before all the arrangements to prevent their sand-castles from dissolving back into the sea have been made. Prayuth knows the evil day is close, which is why his brow is furrowed lately, why his temper is grumpy lately, and why, as we speak, he is finalising arrangements for his family to 'travel' overseas.

Thailand, always a touch 'interesting' and never, ever dull. The cleaning of the Augean stables is about to begin. If you listen carefully, you can hear the whistling of the lads with the big shovels as they approach from up the lane.

The NACC don't need essays on corruption, they already know how it's done. They learned well from the management.

Your post was both interesting and well written...like reading a mystery novel...where you have to be careful to take it all in or you will miss the point...

Thailand's problem...is SE Asia's problem...generations...centuries...of corrupt business practices...the world will likely come to an end before any real change takes place...

Many Western countries have lost their taste for honesty and integrity...and are following the way of the Orientals..."a fool and his money are soon parted"...

And it likely all comes from the same place.

Thanks for the compliment, greatly appreciated.
