The Union Jack

Ok going out on a limb with this one :) hence the pub forum :-)

First up, I'm not a United Kingdom citizen so take it easy on me ...As everyone else I have to say I am sick of the term Brexit, but I have to ask people affected by this, how you feel about what happens to the 'Union Jack'...the flag conceived between England, Scotland, and Ireland (now only Northern Ireland)...............England represents the flag of St George ..Scotland the flag of St Andrews and finally, Ireland the cross of St Patrick in 1801. This Flag has represented the UK since then ...Guess my question is ...If the Scots and Irish want to remain in the EU and England op out ..is this the end of one of the most recognized flags in the world ?

I am afraid so, There will be no more United Kingdom and we will have to change our passports to perhaps citizen of England and Wales? I will not accept that because I am half Scottish and Irish. Fortunately I have a New Zealand passport and will use that instead

The flag is of historical significance and it will never change.

Indeed, it's significant of the historical oppression of the Welsh by the English - hence not the slightest hint of a dragon in the design, even though that would have been very cool.

Maybe we, as Aussies , should just remove the Union Jack and leave just the Southern Cross now before the Olympics so the officials don't get the NZ and Oz flags confused if NZ hasn't got the silver fern organised.
