Hi

I'm off to Kota Bharu next month to re-new my Multiple Non O based of marriage, i have done this for the last 10 years.

Today I have been informed that I must have 400,000bt in my Thai bank account. The money does not have to be seasoned,

& can be in a few days before applying for the visa.

On all my previous visits they have been happy with a statement from my on-line bank account in the UK, showing over 2,000 pound (100,000bt at the time).

Has anyone come across this?

Thanks for any help

It seems the embassy in KL has forced them to change their policies for getting multiple entry non-o visas.

Savannakhet Laos still does them with no financial proof.

@eltlel.

Could you, when you come back from Kota Bahru, write a trip report how it went ?

This could help out other members

Thanks

Ps: You could go to Savannakhet (Laos) and there you don't need to show any money to receive a ME Non-O (basis: Marriage to a Thai)

Will do, but am going with Visa company (24th July) and they will handle all the paper work.

I have done the trip by myself many a time, but the last few years have used the same company.

Was also told that I no longer need a letter from the wife.

The only Doc's I need are.

2 Passport photo's

1 copy of passport

Certificate of marriage (copy signed by wife)

ID Card (copy signed by wife)

And 400,000 baht in bank.

Having booked will still go, but may have to look else where next time thanks ubonjoe.

Aside from the seasoning requirement and doing 90 day reports instead of border runs, this seems to be little different from getting an extension of stay based on marriage at immigrations in Thailand.

Is the seasoning issue the only reason you prefer doing it this way?

@Suradit69.

I can't answer for eltel, but my reason for doing it, is because my current IO very difficult IMO to deal with, money is not the issue (Money is in a Fixed Deposit already for years and years)

I had 3 extensions of stay before I moved to another province and since then I am on ME Non-O.

Another thing is, it forces me (us) to go and travel, now we must travel every 3 months and we really like it, my wife especially as she gets to see different countries.

Already been to: Singapore (2x), Cambodia (1x), M'sia (1x), HKG (1x) and next trip is to Bali.

Up until now I never had to show any money in Thailand, only my UK bank statment.

Also the fact that Immigration here give you a hard time.

I didn't need the headache, looks like that will all change!

A few years ago i went to Kota Buru for non imm O based on marriage .They only gave me a single entry and wrote in my passport i should have a

single entry only until i converted to marriage visa . i changed passport next time applied at Penang and various other places no problem again.

Kota Buru is very strictly Muslim .Separate checkouts at supermarkets for male and female .Many lifestyle restrictions .
