Hi TV.

I have a bit of a problem. I applied for my UK passport at Trendy in Bangkok. Now I have a health problem and can't go to collect it . (It's ready and waiting) Can any companies collect it and post it to me?

I can't wait much longer because of my extension.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Inform whoever collects the passport for you that you would like a letter from the embassy confirming that they issued the passport ... for you to present to immigrations when they transfer your stamps to the new passport.

Some embassies issue the letter automatically, but not all of them do.

You'll need to do the stamp transfer before applying for the new extension. You might manage the stamp transfer and extension renewal during the same visit to immigrations, but depending on the office, it might take two visits.

Also remember to visit your bank to give them the new passport information for their records.

Anybody can pick up your passport with permission from you. They will need your old passport to do it.

This forum sponsor does UK passport applications. http://www.thaivisa-express.com/ You could contact them about picking yours up.

Does the person who collects your new passport in possession of the old one need some kind of documentation signed by the owner ?

Yes, you need to write a letter of authorisation. I did one last month. Included her full name and ID number, don't really know what is needed but did the trick.

edit: from the HMPO email: An authority letter signed by you giving the third party authorization from you, stating his/her name and that you are permitting him/her to collect the passport on your behalf.
