I love peaches, and of course fresh aren't available here. I buy a can every now and then but wince at the price. Normally the equivalent of about $6-8 Aus for a few 100gms. At Makro yesterday and they're selling kilo bags of frozen peaches for 60 baht. I tool them home, sliced them up and stewed them in a syrup of sugar and water for 15 minutes. Really came up nice. Have to go back and get more tomorrow. Mrs won't stop eating them all!

Mrs. is going to have the trots, LOL.

Peaches can be grown in only a few zones. They need an extended cold period in the winter to set fruit, but if it freezes after they blossom, the fruit dies. The same is true of apples and pears which will often be grown in the same areas.

I buy frozen peaches to make smoothies. Very good. Fresh ones are available only seasonally.

Cheers.

At Makro you can buy tinned peach halves in syrup 825g (10 in the tin) for a little over v100 baht IIRC.

The name on the tin is Brook.

Have a look at the dry weight. 400gm. Half of the weight is the liquid

Still tastes good though and I can drink the liquid too.

No preparation other than chucking the tin in the fridge, taking it out when you need it and some clingfilm around the top of the tin until I have finished them all.

honestly the frozen ones cut up and done in a pot for 15 minutes are easy as. No prep at all. I'm a tight ass so it's great for me. Canned ones are a little too sweet for me, like a bit of tang si I can control the sugar. I just love peaches on ice cream and the juice poured over the top. Peach pie, peaches on cornflakes :-)

I quite often eat tinned peaches with cantaloupe melon or mango for breakfast.

I don't think I have seen frozen peaches in Big C or Makro but I live in rural Khampaeng Phet and it is 65 km each way to those two.

You can get fresh peaches in isetan in Bangkok. They come individually wrapped and in a cute little box. Be prepared to spend around 3,000 baht for maybe 4 to 6 peaches though.
