Dr Kaset Chimplee Endocrinology in Chiang Mai Ram Hospital.

Featured Replies

Ram Hospital staff called to inform me today that this excellent physician has left Ram Hospital. No one at Ram would tell me over the telephone where Dr. Kaset Chimplee moved his practice. As Dr. Kasset has been my “primary care” physician for many years, I gently pressed on with my inquiry. I was eventually told Dr. Kaset left Ram this month (it must have been this week) to take up a teaching post in Chiang Rai at "Mae Fah" University Hospital. in Chiang Rai. I now find It is pronounced locally as "Mae Sah" University Hospital in Chiang Rai,

Sadly, I can’t find any internet reference for Mae Fah University Hospital In Chiang Rai, (but I do find one in Bangkok. However, telephone calls there 02-266-4360 in English are useless. I’ve asked a Thai speaker to call on my behalf, but as it seems clear Dr. Kaset is no longer at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital, please tell me another endocrinologists at Ram or perhaps Bangkok Hospital in whom you have confidence from long term personal treatment, and not just by referral.

Thank you; you provide the web site and contact data for which I was looking and will contact them. But as that is a 3+ hour drive from my home in San Sai, perhaps others may have good personal or family experience with a more local and very good endocrinologist?

I feel for you. I don't have an endo in Chiang Mai. I return to California every 3-4 months for meds and advice. Exercise 3 hours per day...that will help. I swim 2 hours in the morning then work out with a personal trainer who comes to my house. I have a cross cable machine, weight bench, weights, Swiss balls, Kettlebells, Theraband. Yoga straps. When California Wow shut down, I started gaining weight. You can download the Dr. Bernstein books at Amazon using your Kindle app. He says 6 carbs for breakfast, 12 for lunch and 12 for dinner. He has great recipes for breakfast....shrimp omelette...for example. He has some desserts that are yummy and low carb. Dr. Bernstein has survived Type 1 for over 60 years. He is in his 80s now. He has free lectures you can get at his website. My California endo yells at me if I eat rice or put milk in my coffee. She allows me 4 test strips per day. Bernstein says use more. Always eat the same amounts and same number of grams of protein until you get it right. You can order A1c test kits for at home testing. I am currently A1c=7. Not very good. Bernstein wants A1c = 5 or lower. I eat out at Oh Ka Jhu and Black Canyon Coffee. Cashew chicken, zero rice.I know the ingredients. At Oh Ka Jhu I take 2 giant Ziplock bags and bag half. Bernstein explains that you can't stuff yourself...even if it's only rocks your blood sugar will go up.

I don't think that is a long drive if you go once every 3 months, It takes me 30 hours to get to California. If your endo is keeping you stable, then 12 hours per year is a good investment of your time.
