BANGKOK, 11 July 2016 (NNT) – The government is introducing a new television program on NBT, also known as channel 11.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that he had ordered a revamp of programming at the National Broadcasting Service of Thailand, or NBT. The station will from now on broadcast useful and entertaining shows for the public and do what it can to make them as interesting as possible.

He said there will be a new line up of shows, one of which will go on air on July 11th. The show will see a government spokesperson meeting with local residents in various parts of the city and answering any questions the locals may have about the government. The program is called “Khan Pen Khao”.

The prime minister urged the general public to watch the show so that they can understand what the government has done or has been doing since it took office.

Mr. PM, can you define "USEFUL" as per junta regulations? w00t.gif

A govt spokesman will answer any questions local residents may have about government ? Yes right !

I'm sure the questions will be carefully vetted and if anything unwanted does slip in it won't be aired.

The message will be, surprise surprise, Positive and everybody will be so happy with everything the govt's done and will continue doing.

I wonder if the junta really believes the populace will watch far less swallow the BS on offer ?

Wow that is quite an endorsement laugh.png But to be fair it is difficult to make propaganda fun. They will soon learn the best way to get the viewers to watch such a channel is to eliminate the other channels.

Another Thai channel I will never watch.

Taking over more and more of the Thai media.

Maybe someone can ask the government why They are buying submarines?

Maybe a Thai version of Fawlty towers would be appropriate.

If the PM is behind this it has got to be a comedy.

I hope they include a montage of Prayuts angry retorts to reporters questions, they are definitely the funniest thing on Thai television.

I'm sure it's going to be huge up north!

Wow a new news/propaganda show. A large cock as the backdrop symbol, who came up with that.

Maybe wrongly assumed France would win the Euro Championship final, you know how LoS only associates with success. rolleyes.gif

What's it called?

"I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!"

Beware...watching the revamped NBT will cause your TV to permanently lock to only the NBT channel. And subconsciously here's what you will really be seeing.

Article 44 used for new rigidly defined parameters for the use of 'boing'.

Initially thinking this is could be a plus as taking air time from the typically laborious, brain numbing Thai TV tripe would be a good thing for the populace, but then again this is the military we're talking about where the potential for propaganda is quite large.

Will they claim the viewing figures are greater than those for the PM's Friday Night Laugh In ?

Questions for the locals to ask must be selected from the approved list.

Failure to stick to the list will put the local in an impromptu live fire zone as per Seh Daeng.

The new lineup will include:

  • Sakdina Night Live
  • Slave Your Love for Me
  • Keeping Up With the Coupdashians
  • The King of Queens
  • Family Feudal
  • Fantasy Island Koh Tao

In my humble opinion, the clearest understanding that I have of this article is the last three words! "it took office"

The show is to called "a yellow chicken speaks" gov.jpg

It will feature audio clues to trigger appropriate audience reaction, such as a fart sound whenever Thaksin is mentioned, a trumpet fanfare for the General, a gong for the charter etc. English subtitles will feature humorous spelling mistakes and double entendres. All other channels will be "invited" to be off air while the show is on.

was thinking they could revive some old US game shows, such as "Who do you trust?" or "What's my line?" or "The Price is right" or "Let's make a deal"

Make them ss interesting as possible? PM needs to stay off the air, For starters.

I bet Prayut eats at Sizzler every night with all these takeovers going on.

They just want to "crow" about their achievements.

Oh, I predict this will have wildly successful approval ratings and an unexpectedly wide viewership. Sort of like some TV surveys...

What achievements??

Watching a government official answering scripted questions from the public sounds like the very definition of "typically laborious, brand numbing Thai TV tripe"!

How are they going to make the programmes entertaining?

Of course: boings, whistles, bouncy music and KorTee reading the official news.

You forgot "Oh nooooooo!" That's my favorite, might as well show 3 stooges videos with all the slapstick sound effects they use.
