WASHINGTON: -- US Secretary of Defence Ash Carter has announced the country will send 560 extra military personnel to Iraq to assist local forces in the fight against ISIL.

The troops will focus on retaking the militant stronghold of Mosul, he said during a visit to Baghdad.

“This contingent will help the Iraqis establish logistical springboard for their offensive in Mosul… At every step in this campaign, we have generated and seized additional opportunities to hasten ISIL’s lasting defeat. With this additional US forces I’m describing today, we’ll bring unique capabilities to the campaign and provide critical support to Iraqi forces at a key moment in the fight.”

Engineers and logistics specialists will be among the new deployment, bringing the number of US personnel in the country to around 4,650. They will be stationed at Qayara air base, some 65 kilometres south of Mosul.

After more than 5,000 American deaths and untold Billions the US continues its useless policy in the Middle East while millions of Americans live in poverty. There is no justification for this and yet there will be no end until the American people finally come to their senses and get rid of the system that allows the rich and powerful to buy the Presidency.

I expect to see a change this November. if not we as a Nation will continue to decline. We have "The Best Congress money can buy" !!

As for poverty, a lot of these people make bad decisions in their life and depend on others to take care of them, same mistake some other Countries have made "Creating a Welfare State" !!

I have, by the Grace of God, in 81 years as a US Citizen never been on welfare or unemployment. I statrted working at 15 and still work today. By the way, I help those who help themselves !!

The US needs to stop being the World's Policemen, that is the UN's job !!

The largest group of people living in poverty in the USA is children. They made the inexcusable mistake of choosing poor parents. We need more children to choose the same kind of parents that Donald Trump did.
