One can only hope all goes "well" with this plan, and they don't become too dependant on ground water.

Such things as agricultural run-off, coastal aquaculture, industrial effluents and domestic sewage can have a dramatic impact on the quality of this source of water.

Another potential problem could be over-exploitation of the resource beyond sustainable yield levels - unless the department has the policies in place to ensure proper management and water-quality monitoring.

So who hired the artesians to dig these wells?

Nahha... they dig them first to counter a huge demand for fresh water and da hell with the consequences

when a giant sinkholes will appear swallowing a whole village that they will ask? who's responsible

here? and as usual, there will no one rising their hands.....

It would be interesting to know what effect the pumping of millions of litres of ground water out from the ground. I am sure there will be some geological problems caused but would not know what. And I don't expect anyone has really tried to find out.

I doubt that they are Artesian wells. Artesian wells flow without being pumped. Just bog standard boreholes, i expect.
