biker Bob Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Hi. I am sorry if there is another topic already about this, but is tomorrow a non-alcohol/holiday? Nobody out here (Samut Prakarn) know anything about it.
MrDK Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I you Google Thailand 15 July alcohol ban you will not find must to answer your question. There is a Chang Mai News Flash from 1 July, but other than stating it is an order from the Prime minister there is not much of substance. Given that 15 July is tomorrow and no bar manager has announced the receipt of a letter to close, it is very doubtful this day will be anything other than business as usual 19 and 20 July will be a completely different matter.

Yes, next week for sure, but it is strange that nobody has heard about tomorrow.

Yes, next week for sure, but it is strange that nobody has heard about tomorrow. It has been on a few websites and at least two Pattaya forums. One reason few has heard of it is probably that it was a bunch of hot air.
SunLover2 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 It feels like it is an 'awareness' day at his point, and not a government mandated behavior day. SL
Merylhighground Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 It feels like it is an 'awareness' day at his point, and not a government mandated behavior day. SL Indeed. Probably more of a Stuffed Shirt trying to inflict his 'Thainess' on the people with an eye on a possible election in the not too distant future......
wilkie111 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 16th has been nominated as no alchol day this year.

hawker9000 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 16th has been nominated as no alchol day this year. Heard this last night myself, but am skeptical. 'Has a well-somebody-said sound to it. But who knows - TIT.
biker Bob Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Apparently, it is Alcohol Awareness Day, not really a dry day.

snowgard Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I bought today beer and whisky at Makro. No problem!!!
hawker9000 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Only the 19th & 20th, which are the actual Buddhist holidays, are no-alcohol days. The rest was just rumor & misinformation with some people assuming things.
