Access AIS eService from a different device

Featured Replies

Thought I'd start a new thread for this...

So I have a ZTE MF821 3G/4G dongle connected to my Asus RT-AC68U router as a backup for when my ADSL drops out. It's all set up and working, just tested.

However I can't access the dongle GUI through my router - so I thought I'd log in to AIS eService to see my data usage, need for topping up, changing subscriptions etc. I did this once by popping the dongle SIM in my phone and thought I'd be able to set up a permanent password for AIS eService - but I couldn't find anywhere to do that. I did top up, subscribe to a data package and put the SIM back in the dongle.

Will I have to take out the SIM from the dongle every time I want to access AIS eService?

Or is there a better solution?

I think you need to be able to receive an SMS, which delivers a OTP for use on a browser. Some dongles can send/receive SMSes.

If using the Android or iOS app. you need to have the SIM installed and be using mobile (3G) data and not WiFi.

If you can originate USSD codes with your dongle UI - some can, some can't - then you can use those codes to get details on data usage. (*121*32* send, or something like that)

Thanks. I haven't found a way yet - I simply can't access the dongle GUI when it's attached to my router.

I thought there was a way to log in to AIS eService once, then create a permanent password and log back in anytime without needing to receive text messages, but it doesn't seem to be possible. I'll probably experiment with custom ROMs (DD-WRT, Merlin etc.) for my Asus router to see if there's one that can handle text messages.

Yes, that was one way a few years ago but believe that access method was done away with the current OTP method.

Maybe ring AIS/One-2-Call to see if they have any app. for aircard customers. Not sure how it works when it is installed in a USB port on a router for 3G back-up? Maybe just plan on popping the SIM out occasionally to manage it?

No go with setting up access via an email address?

No luck, alas.

You can still get things working without having to take the SIM out. Not as flexible as eService, but I'd guess that isn't an issue for you.

Firstly, you top up in the way most convenient for you. So if you want the 3GB over 24 hrs package, you'll need 52.43 baht(49 baht +VAT). So you'll need to top up enough to cover that. Then to connect to the Internet via WiFi and to navigate using your Browser, for example, to this page or perhaps this one You'll note little green buttons under the USSD codes on the first page. Click on the corresponding button and follow the prompts to subscribe to that package. That's it. Note the time that your subscription begins and ends, according to the package chosen. So that you can either purchase another package in time or disconnect in order to save the remaining credit from being used up outside a package.
