NCPO to focus on uniting the country

BANGKOK, 15 July 2016 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will now focus primarily on maintaining peace in the country, ensuring national security, and reconciling political differences.

Representatives from security units across Thailand attended a recent video conference of the council, which was chaired by NCPO Secretary-General Gen Teerachai Nakwanich.

After the video conference, NCPO Spokesperson Col Piyapong Klinphan revealed that the council’s first priority is to keep the country united.

To achieve the goal, legal measures and steps will be taken by the NCPO to restore unity, help those in need, and prevent crime. The NCPO is also expected to work closely with local officials and provincial governors to put an end to recurring social problems.

In addition to promoting national unity, the council instructed those involved in border security to rigorously screen for pirated contraband. Thailand has come under renewed international scrutiny following reports of copyright infringement.

And why not? Not you've fixed the lottery, motor show pretties, mushroom pickers, while ensuring you stay in power for as long as the powers that be need you there... I mean, what else could possibly need doing?

Then I guess we can all expect much more anti Farang propaganda. Seems like that's one of only a few topics that can unite the lovely locals.

"More motherhood-type statements of intent with absolutely zero meaning…"

I'm going for a walk.

The junta and their misguided sycophants justified taking control based on creating unity. Without them taking charge Thailand would have no hope they said.

Why risk admitting they didn't do what they were supposed to do?

Because the real story here is they know the wheels are coming off so they will begin a new round of crack downs on people's basic rights.

Bicycles, bicycles (lanes, rides [road deaths])you forgot the jewel in the crown.

Shame on you.

Now I understand the plan: The longer they stay in power the more united the country becomes in wanting them out.

I think you got that right. My reading of this as a covert admission that their mission to rid the Thaksin regime has failed and have galvanized his supporters and even previous coup supporters. They sense that the referendum likely to fail and is reaching out with an olive branch. The likelihood of a National government seem quite possible. Even the referendum may be in question and may not happen.

"To achieve the goal, legal measures and steps will be taken by the NCPO to restore unity"

Like intimidation, kidnapping, false imprisonment, laying of false charges, forced disappearances and the liberal use of guns and tanks.

Yep, couldn't be more correct. I can't like this enough.

It is beyond pathetic how they need to resort to "legal measures" in an attempt to restore unity, rather than, oh you know, ensuring justice is served fairly and impartially, actually ending the overt corruption in every level of government, listening and taking notice of all opinions, and repealing archaic draconian laws used solely for political means, and having an honest discourse with the Thai people...

The NCPO seems a delusional part of a delusional Junta , how can you the NCPO stand there and say you are focusing on unity when most of the heavy handed tactic's are issued by yourself , take as example the comments and warnings that if anyone attends a birthday party in H.K. they might not be allowed back into the country , not only is this against the Geneva convention, you may find blue caps on the streets of BKK , the NCPO talks with fork tongue , your motives are well documented , stop telling lies and spreading B/S , the way you have set yourself up for further government , will it take an 1972 /92 event to change the course of Democracy , do you really want to go down this path , you need to ask yourself this question, U play a dangerous game. ...............................................coffee1.gif
