PATTAYA: -- At 5am on the morning of July 17 fire-fighters and medics were called to a dangerous fire in front of buildings on Soi Khao Talo, Pattaya.

The fire, which began at the corner of Soi 10 and spread along the road to the Eastern Grand Hotel, was initially tackled by locals using fire extinguishers.

However, the blaze was fierce and fire-fighters arrived in time to prevent it from spreading to the buildings where families and children were trapped inside. Rescue workers took just thirty-minutes to bring the fire under control and then put it out.

Wow. Good to see no one was killed or seriously injured.

Looks like the plastic coating on the cables burns well, now there will be a lot of exposed copper the recycle.

No copper cables in Thailand.

A few days ago, the authorities wanted to make a compulsory course for the electricians.

And now they show that ALL electric material in Thailand is cheap Chinese crap.

"Normal" electric material is self-extinguishing.
Use that material and not the cheap crap.

I didn't know they made "aluminum" comms cables.

The most overland cables here are from aluminium. Copper they use at most only for underground.

Copper cables to expensive and maybe gone missing to fast!!! :-)

I drove past this a few hours after it happened. Representatives of every company with cables were there: TV, phone, electricity, all with huge reels of new cable. Ladders everywhere. Hell of a mess.
