PHUKET:-- A former state official from Russia is facing corruption charges after promising protection to a local business person in exchange for return business-class flights from Moscow to Phuket.

A court in Ryazan, Russia last month detained Natalya Khaributova, a former chief of city planning after denying her bail for corruption charges.

It is alleged that Khaributova received bribes worth 500 roubles (approx B250,000) from a local business person.

Russia’s Investigative committee officers believe that in January 2016 Khaributova promised protection to a local construction company in exchange for two return business-class tickets from Moscow to Phuket for her and her daughter.

500 Roubles is 272 Baht.

250,000 Baht is 459,371 Roubles.

How could the Phuket News allow such a misleading typo to go through their editing process?

Could it be because it's Thailand?

250.000 Baht sounds correct for a couple of buzz tickets.

Fighting corruption is a worthy cause !
Some suspicious people think she probably undercut the market getting charged for this.
