Would i have any problems if i am couple of days late to my tourist visa extension deadline?

Featured Replies

So i have single entry visa,on 30.07 i need to make an extension at immigration to get 30 days more.Unfortunately i cannot make till that date.Would it be a big of a deal to be a few days late(2-3 days)?

If your permission to stay expires on the 30th you should be able to apply on Monday 1st without a problem because the office is closed when your stay expires.

If you apply on the 2nd they would probably still do the extension, but they'd charge you 500 per day in overstay fine.

x Days late not being a weekend or a holiday, makes that you are on overstay. The penalty is 500B /day.

No, since the date is on a weekend, and immigration will be closed anyhow, you won't be charged.

But your question just shows how clueless you really are since a 30 day extension could be done 2 weeks early, and the 30 days extension is simply added on to the 60 day entry stamp time anyhow.

So you could go in to immigration early within 2 weeks and get it done with no problem.

There is no need to wait for the last day.

If caught by immigration or police you could end up in jail for an overstay. Go early.

I had a Thai college ask the visa office. Go Before the date if it is on a weekend. It is safer! Best Wishes.

Just because immigration offices are closed on weekends and holidays is no excuse for not applying for one's extension early considering most, if not all offices allow you to do them up to 14 days in advance and do not penalize you for doing them early by way of deducting days.

Edit:

Oops. Just noticed IMA_FARANG basically said the same.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Jomtien Immigration doesn't allow people to extend until the very last day... perhaps the OP is in Pattaya area?

That is not a year around occurrence at Jomtien. During high season when they are busy they tell people to come back on the last day.
