Is there anyone over in Thailand who comes from a moonshining background and preferably from the southern states of the USA where its roots are?

Also, what are the most popular Thai alternatives and what do they consist of?... Who has drunk what?... What is it like?

Note to mods... I have not posted this to encourage anything illegal. I have a genuine interest. Especially to hear from people who were actually involved in in back in their home country.

They sell it openly on the street?

Don't the cops have anything to say about that?... Or is this more of a rural thing where the cops turn a blind eye and even in some cases buy it themselves down the local karaoke bar?

Sell it on the streets all over the place around bkk outside 7/11, markets etc. Never heard of the cops being involved at all

You can usually go into a ma and pa store and order it as a shot or to take away in a Redbull or M-150 bottle. Cheap as anything and is good for removing paint.

wish someone had the recipe so I could make (or simulate) Mekhong at home.
