Assuming your daughter started at this school at age 11, what "transcripts" from previous schools did she hold?

What particular "papers and transcripts" did the head teacher require?

In which country was her previous school?

Did your daughter speak or read Thai upon starting her Thai govt. school?

Did the head teacher ask if your daughter had any Thai language ability including written ability?

Two farang back then came to Thailand an ended up becoming two of the best Luuk Tung singers and are considered as Thai by Thais

As far as I know neither went to state Thai Schools so they are not really examples of what falang attending them can achieve. I believe their achievements are largely down to a good Christian upbringing irrespective of what people may feel about the sect they grew up in, and little to do with anything Thai. While Christy is a great singer, and an Angel of course :wai:, I don't think many would agree that Jonas is one of the best luktung singers.

When mine started, they asked to see the P6 graduation certificate.

True, but he is one of the most popular for sure.

No he's not by a long way, I would say the most popular are still Pai Ponsathorn, Got, Mike Piromporn,  Man Maleewan, Mai Tai and Ying Yong. He's popular with the shrinking fm 95 audience and has appeared at their concerts many, many times, but never heard him played once on fm 90, lutung rak thai.

Thailand could do with more foreigners like both of them that's for sure, inspirational.

My concern would be less about her playing sports and more about the quality of her education.

For the love of all things holy, take your child out of the public Thai school system. You are condemning her to a life of failure and struggle. Life is hard enough already, she is going to need all the tools and knowledge she can get her hands on.

Good luck.

Those who are unable to see the logic behind these comments must be as dumb as a box of rocks.

What would you prefer, a diagram or some educational statistics going back 20 years?

As someone who had a daughter go through the Australian education system and is now a teacher of people with special needs, and two nieces I have now seen progress through the Thai System for 8 years with one of them in 3rd year University and one in year 3 and getting grades of 4 for most subjects I much prefer the Thai system.  The children are cared for and cared about here and I have not had one day that one of my nieces has wanted to skip school.

Many administrators think they know the rules but they do not.  Take for example the schools that exclude pregnant students.  This has been illegal for some years but many schools still think the law is that they must exclude.

You may find this rule, and the ones about certificates are ones that come from schools not knowing the rules.  It could be that some of the answers come from people with experience in those schools.

If in doubt check with the Ministry but do this politely.  It could be better though not to make a fuss at the school as they seem to be treating her well.

You're embarrassing yourself.

30 seconds on Google will tell you everything you refuse to acknowledge.

The forum forbids some sites so I can't post them here, but Thailand's education system is one of the worst of all of Asia and there are plenty of reports to back that up.

Just a sample:

"Thailand has been ranked poorly among the ten ASEAN countries for its education system in the recently released Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014 by the World Economic Forum"

The reports are endless. Google is your friend, use it.

I think they mean the contest is for Thai nationals only. Completely reasonable IMHO.

I doubt they would have allowed foreign nationals of any racial background to compete.

...as the OP mention its a INTERSCHOOL contest, one would assume that students from different schools are playing with each other.  Of course its arbitrary and degrading for a child.

Raeasonable is something else i dare to say.

Looked at this web site. Two important things I failed to see.

1/ A list of the school teachers along with their qualifications and experiance.

  2/ The actual fees .

me too ! the alternative concept looks interesting .

This thread keep bumping into my e-mail, so i am going to give a suggestion to the OP.

Why don't you take the time to explain to your kid, that the real reason why the school has left him/her out, it's because she's way better than the average, and instead to waste her time into useless games, he/she can use that time to do something way more productive, understanding how the real environment around us work and what we could do to improve things up, otherways, when she/he will get old, will not have anything better to do than stay on a forum full of other dumbed down elderly people to chat about nonsense.

The school cannot compete with intelligence, so has got to resort to some time wasting activities

You prefer the Thai system where "no one fails" No one is taught to think outside the box, everyone taught how to pass the exam and not taught why the answer to things are proven.

Anyone defending the Thai education system is a fool. it's horrendous.

What makes you think no one fails.

what generally happens is that someone gets put into a lower and lower stream and yes they do leave with a bare pass which everyone knows what that means when they go for a job.

I know people who enrolled at University with my niece.  Students failed exams, were made to repeat at summer school, if they only got a bare P they were counselled to withdraw and go to a Rajapat.  I guess if the same thing happens at Rajapat they are counselled to go to a vocational school.

By the way.  People do not fail in many western countries.  They either meet the competencies required or do not.  No failure.

Thanks for proving my point.

I know when we get any engineer applying for a job with a company i am with, and they're Thai the application doesn't even get looked at as we know what happens here.

No its not sorry you are incorrect in my opinion.  We will have to agree to completely disagree.

Do what you want mate. It's well known how bad the system is from top to bottom. I'm so glad i'm getting my child out the system and into one that actually teaches the kids and makes them understand why scenarios, equations etc happen and not told the answers with out explanation.
