Singer Tony Bennett celebrates 90th birthday

 

 

Legendary singer Tony Bennett is celebrating his 90th birthday.

 

The veteran crooner was born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in 1926 to Italian immigrant parents in New York.

 

Most famous for his song “I Left My Heart in San Francisco”, he has won 19 Grammy Awards, and is still touring.

Tony Bennett embodies the best of America.  What a great guy!  He also gives opportunities and much support to up-and-coming singers/performers.

For a singer that can, and still does, name his own price when it comes to contracts, one can therefore assume your comments are totally irrelevant and without foundation.

correct, a much overrated singer. I can name dozens of better  crooners. Mat Monroe,Steve Lawrence and Johnny Matthis are only a few of them

I've got a video CD which is a tribute to TB.  He sings about 14 songs, each one with a different up-and-coming or established singer.  Nearly all are young.  It's plain to see that each person doing a duet with Tony is absolutely dazzled by the opportunity.   It's like a preacher giving a sermon standing next to Jesus.  Tony is monumental among singers who are aware of his genuine kindness and stellar skills.  He also keeps an orchestra and whole troop of dancers working full-time.  How many singers can match that?   I hope you live many more years, Mr. Bennett.
