BANGKOK: -- This political shift is hardly Taiwan’s switch from authoritarianism to democracy in the 1980s or end to quasi-military rule for Myanmar in 2012. But on Sunday voters in Thailand approved a constitution allowing a measure of civilian authority to the Southeast Asian country run by a military junta since 2014.

Thais urged to request Visa prior to visiting China

BANGKOK, 8 August 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has alerted Thais heading to China to secure themselves a visa before their departure, as the Immigration Bureau in China now no longer provides a Visa on Arrival service for Thais.

Chiang Mai’s referendum result shows more “No” than “Yes”

CHIANG MAI:— Although overall results of yesterday's draft charter referendum in the northern region will give approval to the charter and its attached question, but the majority of voters in Chiang Mai rejected the charter with "No" to both questions.

Girl who had heart transplant among 5 dead in murder-suicide

Disabled Man, 51, dies after Phuket bridge jump, girl, 15, safe

Saphan Sarasin was the first bridge built to link Phuket Island to the mainland of Phang Nga province.

 

Phuket: -- A 51-year-old disabled man died in a Phang Nga hospital yesterday (Aug 7) following a leap from Sarasin Bridge in Mai Khao. A 15-year-old girl who jumped with him is currently being treated in the hospital.

NRSA says acceptance of constitution indicates public desire for reform
