Vientianne Embassy to Airport in 30 minutes?

Featured Replies

I pick up my passport at 1:30pm, a potential flight leaves at 2:15pm.

What is the travel time from Embassy to Airport?

Is Vientianne known for being a bit sluggish to get through boarding/security?

(FYI I probably won't take this ticket, but just checking).

impossible.

Without traffic, Google maps claims it is 15 minutes in a taxi. For sure, you would be arriving at the airport later than the official allowed time but, if you can do online check in and the stars are aligned correctly, I guess you would make it. Obvious things that can go wrong are you get your passport back at 1:40 pm rather than 1:30,  you hit traffic, there is a line at security (this last would be unlucky at a small airport like Vientiane). If I really, really wanted to get back to Thailand early, I might risk it. Apart from losing money, there are no other downsides to not making the flight.

You and how many other people?

Not that many because it took all of 5 minutes last year

If I had another 15 minutes I think I would try the Embassy to Airport 1 hour dash. But 45 minutes, damn that's close.

Relax and travel via Udon.

This AirAsia flight is really badly timed for visa runners.

I would not risk it.

If you miss it you have wasted money for taxi, throw away ticket, taxi back to bridge.

If you are prepared for this loss and like to gamble: do it :D

Next flight 18:40h with Lao Airline to Suvarnabhumi.

Long wait and probably quite expensive.

Only 4 flights per week.
