Chiang Mai EOD destroys a suspicious bag in town

CHIANG MAI: -- Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) police this morning sealed off a road in front of a school in Chiang Mai town and used high pressure water gun to blow up a suspected cloth bag placed at a bus shelter.

The suspicious bag was spotted by a street sweeper of the city administration placed on a seat at the bus shelter in front of Regina Coeli College school on Charoenprathet road.

He immediately alerted the police who arrived to inspect.

They found the bag contained a six-inch plastic box with electric wire and glass bottle inside.

They immediately called in the EOD and sealed off the road in front of the school.

EOD police later used high pressure gun to destroy the box.

EOD police said later the object looked like a home made bomb but it was without an igniting fuse.

Police said the person who placed it might intended to create disorder in the town.

What about the case of Regina protesting against land development next to their school. Surely that is relevant to the incident and yet not mentioned.
