NLA considers draft act on terrorism funding and weapons proliferation

BANGKOK, 19 August 2016 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has considered a draft act on preventing and suppressing the funding of terrorism and the proliferation of destructive weapons seeking to upgrade the areas to match international standards.

At its latest meeting, the NLA reviewed the two proposed legislations from the Cabinet, which comprised a total 29 articles divided across 4 sections with 1 provisional clause.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreau-ngam explained the principles of the legislation, stating that it would bolster existing Thai laws to be more in step with the country’s commitments to the United Nations as well as the practices of the Financial Action Task Force, pre-empting the forces evaluation of the nation later this year.

All members of the assembly voiced agreement with the principles of the legislation and noted the nation’s need to keep up with changing world circumstances.

if they can actually write one that will work it will be good, the truth will be in the wording though. Anything that stops terrorist funding and weapons proliferation here would be great, lets see what it says first though

Taking away guns from all Thais would end violence and bring peace forever like in North Korea. And it would help the 'good people' keep control. You just need to get them out of the hands of all the Bangkok people, the ones who mostly have them.

Stop funding terrorism: a very good idea. Now which body has huge unaudited funds at its full disposal (no checks, no oversight, no pesky probing from journalists or - if they dared to exist - investigative reporters)? Which body is daily terrorising the people through force and threat of arms alone? Hmmm - I wonder ....

Yes, all funds to terrorist power-blocks should be cut IMMEDIATELY.  The good General is onto something here. I fully concur with his sentiments. Get the money and power out of the hands of - - - terrorists (whoever they might be!).

That's the point. In Thailand the word terrorist is unclear. Some fanatics sure like to use it to describe their political opposites. In Thailand, there is no real truth or discussion due to the laws that shut people up. It's hard to take anything seriously here. You can only assume that the abuser in power will continue to abuse.

According to the Christian New Testament - not to everyone's taste, but still - it is stated: 'In the beginning was the Word'.

But not in Thailand. The word (speech) is stifled and gagged and called 'terrorism'. Jesus (who boldly proclaimed that 'the Truth will set you free') would be rounded up and 'attitude adjusted' as a terrorist. Oh, and I seem to remember that even the Buddha never stifled people from questioning him and seeking after Truth.

But suchlike were of course 'terrorists'  -  every last man-jack of them!
