Gen Prawit: 17 warrants not connected to attacks in 7 southern provinces

BANGKOK, 19 August 2016 (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has clarified that the 17 warrants issued on August 18th were not related to the attacks in the seven southern provinces.

Gen Prawit said the warrants were issued by the military court on grounds of insurgency. He said authorities have been closely monitoring the suspects and had sufficient evidence to file the charges.

As the country entered its reform phase of drafting organic laws, Gen Prawit also said that the military has continued to ban political gatherings.

Regarding pleas to release political prisoners currently held in military prisons, the Deputy Premier said authorities must continue to adhere to legal procedures while taking into consideration the potential ramifications towards peace and order.

So they have not been arrested as scapegoats. It's just to distract attention towards a so-called insurgency of dad's army in order to increase confusion. :)

The ptb do seem to be doing their best to stoke the fires as opposed to achieve any form of reconciliation.

Hello 1984.

And goodnight Thailand.

Prawit does not seem like an overly imaginative fellow, so the irony of "authorities must continue to adhere to legal procedures " and how he came about to his current position would be completely lost on him.

It's more than a little worrying when he now says he doesn't want to be PM.

Disinfo

They must have been playing bridge.

These are the ones arrested for communist thinking.

Culture will not change over night. Even the PM cannot change that! I don't have the answer either, but better education may help in the long term.

Unfortunately the ruling classes see better education as empowering the people. Sadly, I don't think they want that. :(
