Thai alien id card (pink)

Recommended Posts

I am planning to visit the Bangrak Amphur next week to apply for an alien Thai Id (pink) card.

My question is, does anyone have any experience of dealing with Bangrak on this matter.

Should I be given the runaround and be refused, do you know of an Amphur in the area who are more amenable.

I have my yellow house book (issued by Bangrak)

A non "o" extended visa. Marriage.

Many thanks.

I will not bother getting one it's still not clear to me of the reason to have one if you have a yellow book and a Thai DL.

it might just be another step along the (futile) way of trying to get de - faranged.

i know, it might feel good to have one, but, seriously, what are the physical benefits? unless you are from laos?

It is quite to easy but please prepare the original and copy of the following;

- Passport

- Tabian Baan (Yellow Book)

- Your spouse ID and Blue Book

- Marriage Certificate (Thai Spouse, Thai language)

Also signed all the copy of all the documents. Bring your spouse along, they might ask you to do so.

Know your blood group, working place and occupation. Prepare 60 baht in case, you need to pay for it.

OK this has been done to death the should I or shouldn't I get one. Personal preference I think for those who say I will never need one fair enough, I understand your reasons. Those who want to get one  I understand your reasons too. I got one why because I could, because it's free, and because I wanted too. If they bring out anything else which I belive (note I said I belive) will at some stage help me along the way then I would go for whatever it was as well. I have just bought car breakdown cover, wanted copy car book and passport got car book and copy id card all sorted no hassle. Asked if DL would be ok as well NO was the answer.

So it's already helped not having to go home for passport.

If I read this correctly, this is not restricted to PR holders and anyone with a retirement visa should be able to get one, anyone with a legitimate right to be here? What is a yellow book, our house paper is blue?

I am trying to think what the benefit of having it is if you have a proper visa and DL? If you are married to a Thai then PR is not of any massive benefit I can see either. You have to renew it annually I think just like a Non Imm visa, and do you have to be here on the renewal date or it lapses? The retirement visa is so easy to get now and if it lapses no real big issue just enter Thailand on a 60 day visa (not visa on arrival which is not actually a visa) and apply for a new one.

ID card can be obtained if you reside here and have a yellow book which is a foreigners book as you know we are not allowed to be in the blue book so you can get a yellow book which will have your name on it no one elses same as blue book your mrs has but yellow for you. Contact your Amphure for what they need documents wise as there all different. It is not renewed yearly under 60 every 5 years over 60 valid till you pop your glogs. Benifit ???? who knows as said your choice.

You are mistaken on several aspects of PR but I won't go into detail since off topic. But I must point out a key "massive benefit" of PR, namely that it is completely unaffected by the end of marriage eg through death of a Thai partner.

OK, thanks for clarifying, I did not know i could get a yellow book, actually, never heard of it before. The annual renewal I was referring to was for the PR. I am not sure I see any real benefit and as it does not have your latest visa details on it and I already have a driving licence for ID so I will wait and see how this all pans out. The real test will be to see if you get into parks, zoos etc for the Thai rate...? However, 9 out of 10 times I get in on the Thai rate when I show my Thai driving licence so it is not the big issue you make it so long as you smile and show a bit of respect.

If your highest priority is getting a discount to enter national parks, I would agree with you. You don't need it.

Well to be fair to him doesn't look like there are any more uses for it at present If you don't need a bank account or Internet or tv satalite.

PR does not have to be renewed annually. If a holder was content to remain within Thailand he need never have any contact with Immigration whatsoever.
