ATHENS, 24 August 2016 (NNT) - Travel Daily News, a Greek travel magazine, reported that a Situation Monitoring Center in Thailand has been opened to ensure that the latest information be provided from the Tourism Authority of Thailand's local and overseas offices.

TAT's updated data may be used to measure possible impacts on tourist industry and counter the situation accordingly.

The TAT has set up the Situation Monitoring Center and a We Care Campaign to ensure the safety of tourists in Thailand and to publicize that the country is still a secure and welcoming destination to visit in spite of bombing incidents recently. A number of special events and festivals are being planned to stimulate future travels and bookings.

Travel Daily News reported: “To boost tourist industry and confidence, TAT is putting initiatives in place to ensure that Thailand’s positive image as a safe and welcoming tourist destination remains intact. TAT is also launching a “We Care” campaign for the local communities to host tourists and to encourage everyone working in the field of tourism to wear special White-Yellow Ribbons – the symbols of peace and unity of the nation.

TAT would like to show that Thailand and the Thai people genuinely care for the well-being of all tourists. And TAT would like tourists to know that by visiting Thailand, they’ll make memorable travel memories and enjoy experiences which will entice them to return time after time.”

The Situation Monitoring Center was opened on 12 August, 2016, to ensure officials have the latest information from TAT local and overseas offices in order to measure the possible impact on the industry and counter the situation accordingly. The Center is monitoring local and international news, collecting statistics on tourist arrivals, bookings and cancellations as well as data from airlines and tourism-related companies.

I am not worried about bombings.  They can and will happen anywhere. It is very statistically unlikely to affect the average tourist.  In Thailand, I think it is much more likely a tourist will run afoul of a crooked cop, some minor bill disagreement escalating into extortion to get out of spending time in a Thai Jail, etc.  The system in Thailand was always set up to nab a foreigner, nothing has changed except it is more common now, and with the Military dictatorship in place, the review and get out of jail process can be much harder.  Everybody in Thailand is getting squeezed more now.

I see a poll on the site as well, very small numbers at the moment but showing 46% would be put off visiting Thailand after just one bombing and we are now over a dozen, sadly looks like more to come.

"" We care ?"""   ......says TAT

But visitors can be forgiven for thinking differently .

Or for that matter recently .....

People can be forgiven thinking Thailand is a death trap.
The rate of misadventures leading to mysterious deaths, and /or accidents there by tourists.

Tiny rewards offered for information to catch bombers.
Letting thugs who kick westerners in the head in packs completely go free.?

Is this caring?

The lack of investigation into crimes?

The deliberate misinformation regards bombers out to kill us?

Another bomb today.

People need to think carefully about this place.
Truth is they only want your money.
Couldn't care less.

Wouldn't sorting out the South be the obvious solution. As it stands, neither past governments nor the military are prepared to listen to those with experience in such matters. The military because it is an excuse for massive spending on weapons and useless equipment which helps line the pockets of the generals.

''just  like the one true profit.''  Just to clear things up, not wishing to join the grammar police, prophet is spelled like this; the other spelling is the amount of money made after expenses have been cleared.  Was this a deliberate pun or an accidental one?
