Thailand Tourist visa for persons deported from UK

Featured Replies

I was removed from UK to India for using deception in visa application.

Immigration enforcement team arrested, detained and served removal orders. I purchased flight tickets and left UK voluntarily. UK authorities gave a letter before leaving that I purchased my flight tickets and I am not a criminal.

Now I am working in India and want to go Thailand for 5 day tour.

Will I be classed as Prohibited Immigrant as I was removed from UK??

Please advise.

If you've been formally deported from any foreign country it is a reason you could be denied entry to Thailand. But I doubt Thai immigration would know unless something was stamped in your passport by UK immigration.

Nothing is stamped on my passport. But this is written CAR/321654 on one of the pages.

Do you think UK and Thailand share immigrant information??

  • No idea what the notation means.
  • They do, but I have no idea to what degree. I would doubt someone in your situation would be on a Thai blacklist.

CAR/321654 means its a Port in Cardiff where I applied my visa and was rejected.

Nothing else on the passport that shows I am deported.

Have you got any more ideas please share

If you want to be sure just get a new passport. The UK and Thailand don't share anything as far as we know - it would breach many privacy laws.

However the British (UK) Government have been known to ignore these regulations as and when it suits them - this means all the time.

Would sharing information regarding an Alien entering a country illegally by deception of obtaining a Visa be a breach of Privacy laws?

Based on your description, I do not think you were formally deported from the UK. Deportation proceedings were initiated, but you were allowed to leave voluntarily without being deported. In fact, no wrongdoing was ever proven against you. Under those circumstances, I am pretty sure there would be no record that would impact on your entry into Thailand.

UK BA gave a immigration history of my stay in UK

Applied for PR, they came to know that my previous employer used deception in 2010. Called me for an interview and gave refusal letter which states my employer used deception so as my visa is expired and new visa is not approved I need to leave UK voluntarily. I said I will leave the same day. Still they arrested me thinking I might abscond, so kept me in custody for 1 night. Next day morning they took me to Immigration Removal Center and served me with removal papers and flight tickets which they bought.

I said I have money and can purchase my own tickets as I do not want to get banned from UK for life which they accepted and gave me a letter that I am leaving UK voluntarily, but I need to stay in detention till then. Finally came home.

Now can you please suggest anything on my case.

This removal happened last year 2015

I wouldn't worry about it. Thai immigration will not know anything about your deportation from the UK back to India. Get a new passport if you are worried about the comment that UK immigration made on it.

Your biggest worry would be what is on the Thai Immigration computers and just what amount of information is exchanged between both countries, as Thailand is on the nose with most western countries ,and your case is low risk ,  I'd take the trip.

What worst case scenario can happen if I they find I was deported from UK at the Thai airport??

Will they arrest and send me to detention center in Thailand??

or keep me at the Airport and send me back to India??

Visa application form does not ask for these questions anyway. Also does the arrival or departure cards at POE Thailand have these questions to declare??

Please advise

Deny entry and put you on a plane back to India.

Forms do not ask such a question.

From everything you have posted you should have no problem entering the country.

According to the Immigration Act of Thailand B.E. 2522 (1979), foreigners who fall into any of the following categories are prohibited to enter Thailand:

Being deported by either the Government of Thailand or that of other foreign countries; or having been revoked the right of stay in the Kingdom or in foreign countries; or having been expelled from the Kingdom by competent officials at the expense of the Government of Thailand unless exemption is provided by the Minister on an individual basis.

I applied for PR in UK and they rejected my visa on basis of deception used in previous visa application, kept in detention center and removed from UK (As purchased my own tickets gave a letter that I am voluntarily leaving UK, but maintained detention until I boarded the flight)

Does this rule apply to me??

Yes. But only if you were formally deported AND Thai immigration know about it.

No one here is going to be able to give you the assurances you are looking for. The only way you will know if you are blacklisted from Thailand, which is highly unlikely based on what you've told of your situation, would be to employ someone, in Thailand, to check the immigration records.

I believe that this company can check with immigration for a few thousand baht: http://www.thaivisaservice.com

Thanks for the response.

If Thai consulate approve my tourist visa in India, does it mean I am not a prohibited immigrant?

Does Thai consulate check the blacklist records before approving the visa in India??

Please advise.

  1. No.
  2. Not as a general rule/practice.
