Two airmen sustain minor injuries in plane crash

A pilot and a mechanic narrowly escaped death with minor injuries when a trainer plane in which they were flying crashed into a rice field near an air base in Nakhon Phanom’s Muang district on Friday.

Pol Cpt Chamras Srihata, deputy inspector of Muang district police, said that the trainer plane belonging to the International Aviation College in Nakhon Phanom sustained heavy damages after the crash but the pilot and the mechanic were slightly injured.

He said that the light plane had just undergone repairs and it was tested by the two airmen on Friday. However, the plane developed mechanical problem while on flight and eventually crashed into the rice field.

People in the neighbourhood, however, suspected the ill-fated plane was jinxed because it crashed on a spot only about one kilometer from the site of an earlier crash of the college’s trainer plane on June 2 in which three people on board were killed.

One of the three dead victims was identified as Mr Yingyos Udonphan, former mayor of Maha Sarakham provincial administration organization and chairman of the board of the National Farmers’ Rehabilitation Fund.

Most pilots and accident investigators would probably designate this a "forced landing".

Everything is a "crash", or that beloved oxymoron "crash landing", to a journalist.

does not speak well of the repair job that was done on this plane.

fortunately the test pilots did not suffer a sad fate

Guess someone tried to cover it to look like a Ghost?

An aircraft "mechanic" looking for a new job? :whistling:
