Tourist visa

Featured Replies

Hello, going to apply for a 2+1 tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur in September.I have a new passport with no visas inside yet. What documents will i need to show at the Thai Embassy.Thankyou.

Penang is a better choice if applying in Malaysia. They don't require flight/hotel bookings etc.

What is a 2+1 tourist visa??

Buy 2, get one free . Actually, there is no such visa. The TR visa is valid for 60 days (2 months) then you can extend it for 30 days (1 Month) in Thailand.

I think he means 2 months on entry and a 1 month extension which is not exactly correct since it would be 60 days 30 days.

I see....a SETV or Single Entry.

Is it still possible to buy additional visa entries in Thailand for 1000 Baht each?

It never has been possible. You can extend a tourist entry by 30 days at immigration for 1,900 baht. If you want a new visa it needs to be bought from a Thai Embassy/Consulate outside of Thailand.

That was my initial reaction. However, he may be referring to re-entry permits. In that case, the answer is yes with, of course, the reminder that it only keeps the original "permitted to stay until date" intact (does not buy more time).

KL is not a good place to go for a visa. They randomly ask for different things. Many people have been turned away.

Post from February.

Their requirements are here:  http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/66911-Tourist-(TR).html

I have flight out of Thailand and a house rental contract.

It makes no difference. As has been mentioned, they don't like issuing Tourist visas in KL.

Unless you have a hotel booking it's unlikely KL will issue the visa. They seem hot on trying to satisfy themselves that the applicant is a tourist and proving you're not with a rental contract isn't going to help.

Thanks BritTim & el viajero -- I didn't realize that little detail, that the re-entry permit does not buy more time -- I had thought it may. This will certainly help with my travel planning -- just picked up my passport w/ SETV granted a few hours ago :-)

So -- thanks!
