There is a similar type of building when coming on highway 7 from the direction of Bangkok some 3 km before the traffic light. Same style, same idea. Could be a link between them.

i know the building that you are talking of, but only from the highway.  I have never been to the front of the actual place to see what it is.   at first i thought that it might be a middle eastern religious site, but now they have put in the lions with the chariot, i am not so sure.

it is still worked on everyday so NOT some developer spending deposits,,   if you want that, give me a couple hours and can have 10 pics of locations near by that are almost but not finished. that would be another thread not this one

Although I don't know the exact building in question based on it's design I know exactly what it is going to be. A terrible eye sore and blight on the landscape.

Well say it then !!   l reckon a Mosque.

Similar building as the castle in a small soi from thapraya road where is the french restaurant owned by ex owner of Asianrooms . com hotel booking company. The Asianrooms castle is bigger actually.

Definitely not a mosque; it has a statue of a chariot pulled by lions in front of it

Specifically, a statue of the goddess Cybele with her lion-pulled chariot.

In Madrid the town hall, known as the Cybele Palace (Palacio de Comunicaciones) is very similar with its neoclassical style.  (Image credit:  "Carlos Delgado; CC-BY-SA")

My wife wanted a castle so we comprimised and built one. So the answer is no, its not a mosque.. how does this even come close to looking like one.

I would undoubtedly say; this is going to be some kind of government, local authority building. These local authorities love extravagance. Near where I live the local electricity company building would not look out of place in Whitehall, London and the tax offices have the appearance of being a palace.

I agree. The one in Hua Hin is very grandiose. Someone mentioned one near Highway 7, i to saw one on one of the roads around Ladkrabang so maybe the same one, and i think that one is also a local authority building. Seems there is plenty of dosh still rolling around.....
