3 TV in Penang, 2 in Vientianne.. back to back

PP using an agent would likely work. My own personal lowest risk choice would be Savannakhet. Fly-ride coming back from Mukdahan makes this not too painful an option if traveling to Bangkok. You may want to suffer through an overnight VIP bus from Bangkok to Mukdahan on the way there just because the timings work out so well.

I used a agent in pp recently, the first thing they asked was how many previous visa's I had. I didn't have any so I didn't have to produce any flight or money info.
Therefore you'll probably have to produce the full remit of flights and money evidence.

Sent from my mobile, please forgive the autocorrect.

If you try Phnom Penh, I would recommend "Lucky, Lucky Motorcycle Rental" - they have a visa office inside.  They got mine ~1 month ago.  I was advised that if you have several previous visas, the consul likes to see copies of a bank-book with 1K USD + balance; they also said I could use an air-ticket (note: I only had 3 Tourist Visas in my Passport, when I applied).

Rules have changed periodically at that consulate, but you can email them and check the latest - [email protected]  .

Do they have agents in Savannahet?

I would happily pay whatever if they can remove the need for bank/flight info and for them to deal with everything as is the case in Penang.

Can I not fly directly there? Flying and bus to border seems a bit of a pain.

Is there a casino there?

What is the turnaround?

Thanks

In Savannakhet, most people do not use agents. Apart from completed form,, photocopies of passport identification page and entry stamp into Laos, 2 photos and 1,000 baht, they have no other requirements. There are people outside the consulate who will fill out the form and get you in and out a bit quicker if you are feeling lazy. You apply before 11:00 am one day and pick up 2:00 pm following day.

There are flights to Savannakhet, but they are expensive, not daily, and mesh poorly with visa applications requiring extra days stay. Perhaps, fly into Savannakhet and stay one extra night if you want to avoid the overnight bus (understandable) but I strongly recommend the fly-ride return saving money and almost a full day.

There is a casino (Savan Vegas). It used to be a great place to stay, and some still recommend it. IMHO, it has gone badly downhill since the Lao authorities pinched it.

Thanks.

Can any agent do the whole process for me? I am happy to pay if I can just drop off my passport etc to some agent and collect from agent the next day.

I have a perhaps irrational hatred for waiting in lines and dealing with beaurocracy.

I cannot state this with complete certainty, but I think the Savannakhet consulate wants to see your face. I have heard you can sit having a coffee near the consulate, have someone queuing for you, and be called when it is your turn to present the documents. However, I think you must attend the consulate. Note that collection the next day involves no queuing if you leave collection until about 2:45 pm. Hopefully, someone will contradict me if I am presenting misleading information.

My preference would be to go to Vientiane again. I have had two TV there, most recently last month and then a year ago. With three TV from penang consecutively in between the Vientiane visas.

I only will need one more TV as I will be moving to non O next year.

Do you think I will be fine? Is the worst case scenario that they give it to me but red stamp it saying no more TVs in the future?

I think you read the situation correctly. You will almost certainly get your visa. If not concerned about the possible stamp saying they will issue you no more, by all means follow your preference.

Im going to Thai next week I have a 6 month itinerary flight to Thai and flight back home to USA  My Original plan was to get a METV but now the Thai consulate stopped issuing them this month, I had my itinerary  months before!  Does anyone know what I should do? Now Im thinking just to go to Thai and get a visa on arrival,  I plan to fly to Philippines within the 30 days of entering Thai then get a SETV in Philippines come back to Thai for 59 days get a 30 day extension then fly to Cambodia or Maylasia apply for a SETV In Cambodia or Maylasia come back to Thai other 59days  that should put me in the time frame for my returning flight home  Can I do this without any problems? When I go to the airport next week for boarding passes will airport give me problem boarding plane to Thai since I wont have a visa?

While I have no personal experience, Manila has been reported as one of the less reliable places to apply for tourist visas (I have avoided it for that reason). Getting an SETV in Phnom Penh Cambodia or Penang Malaysia should be no problem. I would be inclined to get an SETV in the USA before leaving. Perhaps, a re-entry permit before the Philippines trip would work, if you only plan to stay there a couple of weeks, then a 30-day extension in Thailand before Cambodia or Malaysia?

  • Thanks for your reply, I already have my tickets for Philippines I will stay in Phlip for almost a month so the re entry on the SETV wont help me. Are you saying Manila will give me problems about a SETV or its just inconvenient to go to Manila:"? I wont have time to get a SETV from my home country anymore. Question If I arrive in Thailand on visa on arrival I can still apply for a SETV from a neighboring country right? Second is Im worried about the airport seeing 6 month itinerary and I only have 30 day on arrival visa I plan to show my itinerary for Philippines and will tell them Im plan to file extension and apply another SETV from a neighboring country dont know what they will say??? Thanks

You do not a qualify for a visa on arrival (15 days). You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

Manila is known to be not the friendliest of embassies. You will likely be able to get single entry tourist visa there.

Having a visa exempt entry will not effect getting a tourist visa.
