KHON KAEN: -- Former mayor of Ban Phai Municipality Premsak Piayura caught the governor of Khon Kaen by surprise yesterday when he went  down on his kness, begging for reporters not to insist on interviewing his personal affairs matters.

Kneeling on the floor in pink jacket, Dr Premsak gave repeated “wai” to reporters covering news at the office of the governor and begged “I’m  afraid of you reporters, very afraid. Don’t threaten me, I’m just a citizen, small citizen. Please don’t frighten me, sir.”

He then quickly left the governor’s office after the unusual practice that caught all by surprise.

Dr Premsak later today posted on his Facebook explaining the reason he went down to his knees begging reporters.

He claimed reporters insisted on demanding an interview about his personal affairs immediately after he lodged a petition with Khon Kaen governor Kamthorn Thavornsathit.

He petitioned the governor to probe into alleged public land encroachment by a local politician.

He said reporters paid no attention to the land encroachment case he petitioned, but instead stepped up their demands for an interview about a very personal matter.

He said he petitioned the governor to investigate Detkhamron Singkheebut, a member of Khon Kaen provincial council, for allegedly encroaching on land belonging to the Royal Irrigation Department to build a resort.

The governor later told reporters the case is under investigation.

Dr Premsak was suspended from duty by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha under Section 44 of the interim constitution has become a target of criticism over his behaviour when hehumiliated a local reporter, ordering his staff to lock him up in a room and strip him off his trousers.

He was said to get angry with this reporter after the story with photos showing him in a ceremony to engage an underaged girl who is a Mathayom 5 student was published on the front page of a mass circulation Daily News last month.

In the photo Dr Premsak was in a pink jacket, sitting near the young girl with 400,000 baht in cash in front of them at the girl’s parents’ home.

The ceremony was said to look alike a local northeastern Thai engagement ceremony as it showed him and the girl had their wrists joined together with a cotton string.

The news report went viral on the social media questioning his conduct in engaging a student.

Currently Dr Premsak is being investigated in both cases, humiliating the reporter and engaging the student.

He flatly denied doing so in both cases.

For the alleged engagement, he defended saying it was just a ceremony to adopt her as a  daughter.

From shaming a professional (journalist) to grovelling at their feet.  Well, someone finally knocked some sense into him.

Far cry from pulling the pants off a reporter during his last encounter.

Time will tell if this public show is "pak-chi-roi-nah"* or not.   Don't hold your breath.

(*Thai proverb:  "sprinkling parsley over bad rice."  Same as western expression "window dressing."   Making a shallow gesture to cover up a deeper problem.)

Crass! Very crass!

There are quite a few other turkeys calling themselves "politicians" in Thailand who should adopt a similar position.

Unfortunately, the natives here lap this stuff up as a display of genuine sincerity.

All the more reason to publically engage him further as he undoubtedly has more to hide than meets the eye.

What?...These public figures that hold "trusted" public official positions are asking for privacy concerning public issues and get upset when scrutinized or exposed for their all too often questionable behavior and conduct.

Geez...a whole lot of entitled thinking on their part .....I would say.

Cheers

Mayor who is pro junta with under age brides?

Crooked deals.?

Woman groups need to hear of this and boycott such evil places.

Is there no depths to the Government depravity?

Only after a photo published was he suspended?

Terrible scandle

He is former PTP.. :cheesy:  if you accuse make sure you know what side someone is on.
