Good day dear reader,

After a few hours looking on Thai visa I couldn't find all the information I was looking for.

Hope you could point me out to the right thread if there is one.

I am a Dutch national, living in Thailand for 6 years now, 30 years old and like to marry my Thai national girlfriend.

I have one car on my name here in Thailand and a  motorbike which is on my Thai friend her name (not my girlfriend), for the rest I have no properties here in Thailand and not yet in the Netherlands. Only money in the bank in The Netherlands is the only asset I own in The Netherlands she is not aware about that quantity.

My girlfriend has a own house (pay down every month) and she has a car and a motorbike on her name here in Thailand.

I am wondering how the Thai marry contract looks like, the ins and outs in cases of: Death,  official divorce or separation without signing the divorce papers

Hope you understand that I am not looking for money from her in case of separation, I am just like to protect my own money car and maybe future cars, motorcycs, properties bought in Thailand. What will happen to my overseas money during a divorce?

In other words, I like to do a financial risk assessment in case of a worse cause scenario before to get married.

Hope somebody could point me in the good directions how it works normally in Thailand under Thai law or in case different, with a farang/Thai.

How does a Thai marriage/commitment look like, financially.

Thanks a lot for your time and thanks in advance for any replies.

Regards

I am not married just for that reason.

What I do know about the thai law is that what you had before you got married is safe, and what you make together with youre wife wil be split 50-50 with a divorce.

What I have seen from my friends that have split up,is that it is realy hard to even get youre 50%..

My best advice would be to go to a lawyer and give him all youre details. There is so many smal things to think about that is hard to remember when you write here.

Best of luck!!

Thanks for the reply Odin,

That makes a bit of sense!

No worries.Glad to be of some help.Thats what this place is fore.I dont see any reson for others to do the same misstake so many have done already.

Im just laugh when men get married down here with 30+ age-diference and think its realy love. When the lowest head work there is not enogh blood in the body for the brain to work at the same time.
