Thai stereotypes

Looking for the seasoned veterans to share their immense knowledge and wisdom for stereotyping the Thai female population grouped by ethnicity or origin such as Isaan (I think I have that one figured out), Thai, Thai Chinese, Khmer minority (especially interested to learn more about them), any other significant group and education farm girl vs university girl or farm girl becoming university girl - once a farm girl always a farm girl? Comments in regards to temper, affection, money, fidelity, love etc. I realize the combo's could get out of hand so just have fun with and I am looking forward to some insightful comments knowing very well that stereotypes are stereotypes.

It's as hard to quantify Thai women as stereotypes as it is women in any other "free" country.....A country where they are free to work, drive, study & educate themselves, start businesses, & work hard side by side with men equally - there really doesn't seem to be the dreaded "glass ceiling" here as espoused & by the feminazi's in westerndom....

There are many, many, many admirable "quiet" women here going about their lives....And - of course - the bar girl stigma, and thinking, is omni present among certain types & classes of society - they are what & where they are & are easily found......

My wife would be classified in the OP as the farm girl - university girl.....My admiration & respect for her is immense.....From central Thailand and raised in a farm.....Although they have the biggest place around and work hard there's no show of money.....My wife was taught never buy anything big - save your money for food - she still lives & shops that way + nothing goes to waste......

She remembers she never had more than 2 pencils growing up, which she used for studies & well as her hobby, sketching/artwork, she's one of the most creative people I've ever met.....Her biggest dream was to have a baby doll - she never got one until we met.....Pretty humbling.....

She went through school - then the university staying with relatives while completing her formal education.....

When we met she'd worked in management for an international company that manufactured parts for automotive companies for the assembly line.....She received her instructions in written English which she then gave instructions to her department in Thai....Oddly enough it took a lot of work together to put together and refine her English speaking skills.....She'd studied English at school starting at 12 but the speaking part was lost in translation....

She did well enough to go on & finance/purchase her own townhouse & sensible car......She basically worked and slept 6-7 days a week until we met.....I knew I'd struck a jackpot once I finally saw her place and she had a well organized library, numbered, dated, and cataloged....I found zero red flags anywhere in here life......It only gotten better and better after that.....She's never asked for a thing.....We've had a family and I can't imagine anyone having a better, more complete woman.....She does well in any social situation but mostly she's a home body.....When we visit family the farm girl transitions right back....

We talk about everything together.....We cover everything from life, some sports, to world events - but like most Thais world events is only to be aware of & not broken down in depth, which is fine with me.....It's a pretty dismal topic.....

The girls are 50/50 western/Thai which leaves them unabashedly like me but with Thai manners & grace like their Mom......They'll be just fine....

Our 3 cats get a fan when it's hot, mosquito coils when they're thick, homemade cat food, & a three tier - fully equipped kitty condo to relax in after a busy day of eating, stretching, and napping.....

All in all we're all a pretty happy,  well adjusted loving bunch.....

So - throw some of those f**king stereotypes out the window & start seeing some of the beautiful individual women in this great country....

Didn't check for keying errors, you'll just have to figure it out.....

Classified by whom!

Thais (unfortunately) only have one classification for Thai girls who are seen with foreigners.
In fact, most of the western world also only has one classification for a young Thai woman with an older foreign man. And for that matter, only one classification for a western man who visits Thailand.

The funny thing about stereotypes, you don't get to choose what they are.

I think I tried to start this exact topic about a year ago. "What Stereotypes Do Thais Have About Each Other?" Or something like that. But it was quickly closed on the grounds of Thai bashing.

Thais always tell me Isan people talk too loud and too much. I think the northern people are known for being mellower and speaking slowly. Seems like everyone hates the Bangkok yuppies and hi-so wannabes. Not really sure what anyone thinks about southerners, but the opinions are mostly good.

for stereotyping the Thai female population

Far easier to stereotype farang who travel to Thailand looking for something that they never stood a chance of finding at home and, once they're here, act like they're wandering through a meat market (and even then still way out of their league).

Geeze you won the lottery and did not even buy a ticket amazing. Yes you have to watch for the red flags. When they appear do not have stardust in your eyes. After 2 failed attempts I to lucked out. Must be the road we travel to get to our destination. Its full of potholes detours and hilly but stick to it until you arrive at where destiny intended you to go.

My wife is a typical family oriented country girl... works hard, always willing to help others, pleasant disposition.

One of the interesting stereotypes I have seen are what I call the "cutie pie" girls. They act like little girls, very childlike, in spite of being ladies and having kids etc..

I have read this point of view many times, but in all the examples they always talk about "young Thai ladies with older foreign men" (and the men are usually described as old and fat, for good measure). Let me tell you, they would be looked on in the very same way if it was an old man with a young lady from his very own country. So it's nothing got to do with where she is from but all about age difference. Thai people are no different in their observations than people in any other country.

If you see a foreign man with a lady (Thai or any other nationallity) who are near enough around the same age group they are perfectly accepted in Thailand, or any other country.

PS..there was a time in certain countries that it was more than frowned upon to see a white person with a black partner. Thankfully those days now seem to be well and truley gone.....having said that....maybe one or two states still like to hold on the that way of thinking.

Now we even have gays and lesbians marrying each other...so I think the days of discrimination have been left behind us...(fingers crossed).

I am not so sure pgrahmm's woman is one in a billion or he won the lottery or he sure was lucky. It sounds as if he didn't start with a bar girl and found a woman with some ambition and skills other than spreading her legs. Most of the tales of woe start with finding your women working in bars or sideline girls online. Some may even think they have done better because their girl already has a house and car; bought by the previous farang. Gee, what do you expect?

Get out there and find someone who doesn't fit the negotiable virtue, house-hunting, gambling, close brother, sick buffalo, support my extended family stereotype.  However, that may take some personality rather than baht-ability.

Does that make you feel better good I'm glad for you. Yes I count myself fortunate to have a beautiful, good in bed, less argumentative Thai lady.

Why go for a western gunter when you can have the best.

Because, unlike some people, I don't find it necessary to insult Western women just because I can't pull the attractive ones.

Isn't it funny how some men kid themselves that the only women they find attractive are the only ones willing to go with them for money

Who has insulted western women???  Just for your info I am 58 years old and in all my 58 years of full on living I have never and will never pay for sex. But if that floats your boat each to there own so your a westerner apologist then.

I have a very good male friend  who is widely experienced with women from around the world, and claims Filipino ladies are easily the most skilled and loving women in the world, and Thai women not all that much good at anything in comparison.

I can't really venture much of an opinion myself, as I have only ever had English men as lovers, and none of them really did it for me (But I freely accept that might be me and not them).

So Mr. DiT, just out of curiosity, can I ask if you have widely sampled the rest of the world's women, or is it just Thai and home grown? (from whatever your home country is?)

.

I wonder how they all rated him MissAndry...??

many years ago---1980s-- I was one of the most popular guys in the bar.....had to beat them off with a stick as the saying goes---until someone pointed out to me that I was paying about 50% more than most of my friends........and also, to make things worse......No you don't need to give them Taxi money home, there just coming back to the bar.

.

Just an observation MissAndry....I like your posts , & its good to get a female balance, but I can see the glitter of Thailand is defiantly wearing off for you, isn't it........:coffee1:.........how long has it taken ??

About a month .......... and I'm committed to at least a year mainly living here (about 9 months left).

But out of any relationship, usually one is very keen and the other not so.

If you're the one that's having the time of your life, do you really care what the other person thinks?

Many people like to kid themselves that the girl walked home saying....Wow.!!.....the harden Asia crowd that I hung around with back then--had a saying.......

What do a pulse and an orgasm have in common?
I don't care if she has one. ...................

You may ask of course but whatever I say I have no doubt that it will be vilified by the mob on here. Yes I base my opinions on the world as I was lucky in my youth up untill my 40's to sample the world quite a few times as my vocation allowed unlimited travel to world destinations with again luckily enough always with time to sample the atmosphere and delights of whatever place I visited. Two places I never went and hasten to add really don't want to was Russia and China. Another not visited whilst in my vocation was Cuba but I rectified that with a visit there after I left my job, and I'm so glad I did. Now back to the question best skilled loving women in my opinion has to be Brazilian without a doubt. But the topic is steryotype  thai women so I choose to  stereotype them against western women l. As most on here will relate to western types.
