NARATHIWAT: -- Two people died, and eight others who included four police, were injured in a roadside bomb attack in Tak Bai district of Narathiwat this morning.

 

The explosion occurred in front of Ban Taba school in Tak Bai during a routine patrol by security officials to give protection to teachers.

 

As the patrol police unit passed by near the school, a bomb hidden was detonated, seriously injured ten.

BANGKOK (AP) — Police say a bomb has exploded outside a school in southern Thailand, killing a man and his 4-year-old daughter. Eight people were also injured.

 

Police Lieutenant Col. Noppadon Kingthong said the bombing happened early Tuesday in Tak Bai town of Narathiwat province.

 

He said Mayeng Waba and his daughter, Mitra Waba, died of their injuries while being taken to a hospital. Mayeng was dropping his daughter off at the kindergarten in the Baan Ta Baa School when they were caught in the explosion.

 

Among the injured, three were police personnel and one was from the military, Noppadon said.

 

Southern Thailand is in the grip of a separatist insurgency led by Muslim militants, who complain of discrimination by the country's Buddhist majority. They often attack government targets.

My aren't those terrorist boys brave. Putting a bomb at a kindergarten school site knowing that there will be a very high probability that small children will be killed and injured.

 

But that doesn't matter as they were only collateral damage as the main target was hit and 3 policemen and a soldier were injured.

 

How many more incidents and how many more innocent men, women and children will be murdered and injured like this will it take before the Thai people will wake up and turn these sick murdering bastards over to the security forces.

NARATHIWAT: -- A Muslim father taking his five-year-old daughter to school in Narathiwat were killed along with her when Muslim insurgents detonated a homemade bomb hidden in a garbage bin in front of the school Tuesday morning.

 

Four policemen and four civilians were also injured the explosion that happened in front of the Taba School in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district at 8:25 am.

The blast happened while police were directing traffic in front of the school.

Mayeng Wohba and his daughter Mitra Wohba were killed at the scene.

The eight injured victims were identified as Pol Sub-Lt Prapit Boonsang, Pol Sen Sgt Maj Kittipong Srikham, Pol Lance Corpl Taofik Arong, Pol Lance Corpl Wannuchit Saekhor, Noo-inee Yusoh, 25, Talmisi Da-oh, 23, Rassadee Mah-ae, 22, and Kusimah Kuma, 40.

The Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 condemned the Muslim insurgents for launching a bomb attack in front of the school.

Col Pramote Prom-in, the spokesman of the ISOC Region 4's Forward Command, said the attack was inhumane because it killed a girl as young as five years old.

Pramote said the insurgents had never taken into account that their attacks would injure and kill innocent people.

these terrorist are pathetic, they kill little kids so they can run around patting each other on the back and telling themselves how big their d*cks are, soon as it looks like someone will shoot back they run like the cowards they are. What Thailand needs are assassination squads to go there and simply shoot all the terrorists they find and offer a huge reward for any dead ones the public bring in, watch the cowards run and hide quick smart when their lives are the ones being threatened.

that is a tragic story.hope we can sit one day and think about what we are doing to each other.

Spent many relaxing weekends at the Tak Bai Lagoon Resort in the mid 90's. In those days Tak Bai was just a sleepy border town. Sadly that is no longer the case and the main sufferers are the local people.

 

Really difficult to see any easy end to this constant stream of death and destruction. But, as others have posted, maybe the solution is in their own hands.

The Malaysian conflict ran from 1948 to 1960 and in 1967 Communist leader Chin Peng started the second emergency from 1967 to 1989. 12 years for the first lot and 22 for the second time.

 

How long did the IRA conflict run for? From the late 1960s until 1998.

 

Situations like this tend to drag on for decades with rarely a positive conclusion for either side.

Lets hope this on going war in the South of Thailand will be discussed at the G20 meeting in Laos. A solution to this carnage is paramount for the future of Thailand.
