Grey Beard On The Gaydar

Featured Replies

I'm straight but since I've had a grey beard the past few years I've been approached with interest by one or two younger gays, both Thai and foreign. It didn't happen before. Is there something about a grey beard that causes a gay's gaydar to malfunction?

Camerata, with the years you've been in Thailand, it's only normal that you might be gently approached by one or more gay men (happens in the West sometimes, too).

I gave up my gray beard around 1988, because it announced that I was much older than my yellow head suggested. If you have as much chin hair as your avatar, I would just guess that's too much beard for most Thais.

Okay, I just asked my long-term Thai boyfriend, who's gay, of course. He said "No, some men like Heineken, some drink Leo, some drink Singha beer...."
