DSI show reporters where land official died in custody - just a shame the CCTV was not working

The DSI chief has shown reporters to where Pang Nga land official Tawatchai Anukoon was being held.

 

But he admitted that CCTV in the area where the event occurred that led to his death was not working.

 

Phaisit Wongmeuang of the DSI said that the CCTV had been bust since April and repairs were not due for completion until the end of October.

 

But he did show them the aftermath of whatever took place on the unrecorded sixth floor as the cameras were operational on the ground floor. Here medics and security were shown trying to revive Tawatchai.

 

Phaisit said that the only outsiders that gained access to the building were staff from Mongkut Wattana Hospital.

 

But he was tight-lipped about commenting on what had happened in the sixth floor cells. He said that an internal inquiry had occurred but he would wait for the outside committee investigating the incident to publish its findings.

 

He did say that access by key card was the only way in and out through the solitary access point.

 

His younger brother also of the DSI, Chainarong, told reporters that he had no comment to make on a second autopsy carried out on the body of the dead land official.

 

Tawatchai was thought to be involved in hundreds of illegal land deals in the south of the country and his death in custody has been headline news this week.

It stinks of massive corruption and there should be a high level investigation opened into this incident.

 

Maybe a CPR expert can debunk the idea that badly administered CPR caused the internal injuries then, seeing as there is CCTV of 'medics' trying to revive the bloke. But this charade of busted CCTV is fooling no one with even a  shred of intelligence, would be laughable if it wasn't so serious

Unrepaired CCTV. So where are the dereliction of duty charges for failure to maintain the equipment ?

In LoS ' working CCTV ' is an oxymoron, sometimes through lack of maintenance etc and sometimes conveniently so.

Of course it was

Anything that needs to be maintained will fail in Thailand cctv is only one of the casualties.

We've watched plenty of movies to know that a broken CCTV during a crime is never a coincidence

That sound like an extra condemning piece of evidence. Stupid cover up.

 

If the CCTV was working that the man responsible to disable it would have found to be

"committed suicide" with his sock/shirt as well......

Um......I'm not sure if there is a higher level for investigation than the DSI......could hardly say that the RTP (who have been assigned the investigation) are capable........

CCTV: Convenient Circus TV

They work when it's convenient to show the circus, they don't work when it's inconvenient.

And whenever there is an embarrassment of inconvenient CCTV working, the footage goes missing, promptly.

Interesting how there are only photos of the back of the door and the back of the hinge...

 

Did the DSI not show the reporters the front of the hinge? Or did the reporters not think it pertinent to the story to show how utterly implausible the DSI story is?

 

 

so there was electronic key card access. they can do a door audit of anyone entering the area around the time of death. should give some answers. also why would they move the deceased to an area with cameras to try to revive him? odd behavior. cameras are very easy to tamper with unless they are installed in a vandal proof way with the recorder kept under lock and key. they are easy to fix however so why wait so long to get them fixed?

How convenient  rules and  regulations are sorely lacking when it comes down to the nitty gritty , no Police officer these days should do any interrogation or interview, whatever, without a camera, it protects the officer and the client and elevates silly B/S and Lies from developing , for those late comers to Thailand , just imagine what happened back in eighties and nineties, plenty disappeared or woke up dead in the morning , now you can understand  why the Thai police have such a bastard of a reputation.................................    

I wonder if the Prime Minister will be commenting on this

Well the case is proceeding consistently if nothing else...

I only hope that another tragic events will not happen nearly soon. So many unexplained death ? in DSI custody. The list is really long enough please stop killing people, your job is to protect them not kill.

The problem with your suggestion is that it probably came from a high level as to what has occurred.

But you are forgetting one thing, That would be the logical, transparent and correct way to do things which would give no allowance for doubt. All of the aforementioned traits do not fit with the "Thai way" of doing things!

Maybe there are some Burmese doing cleaning or something to stick it to so Nomsod and friends can get away with murder and continue on.
