The Koh Lipe beach in The Mechanic sequel- is it just BS?

Featured Replies

I was impressed by the one in the movie. No horrid concrete mega resorts for rich people only.

However, on looking at the photos on google of Koh Lipe I see only revolting concrete buildings for rich people.

Did they build all those simple huts specially for the movie?

Can't answer that one.  I like him as an actor though, was told that he was a "high diver" in a different life?

Even though writers might set a scene in a particular location it's not always practical to move a film crew to that place.

The beach scenes were filmed on koh yao yai,i was there last here in february and the locals told me i had just missed the filming by a week, they kept saying mech anic, mech anic.aha mechanic

I was on Lipe last year and I honestly don't recall any ugly concrete buildings. I heard all this before I went but it was fine. Of course there are nicer looking resorts, nicer looking bungalows built that cost more but nothing that 'ruins the island' (wish I'd copyrighted that phrase in the 90s! ;)

Yes, seems Wiki doesn't give the full story.
