BANGKOK: -- Police are looking for a 30-35 year old thin man after a tour bus stewardess was brutally murdered in the Prachacheun area of Bangkok on Monday.

Twenty nine year old Wanthanee Athijorn was found in her bathroom with five stab wounds to her face, arm and chest, reported Thairath. A wiped knife of one foot in length was found nearby hidden in a blanket.

An ironing board was overturned and an iron was found still plugged in.

Residents of the rented rooms where the body was found said they had heard cries for help and a door slamming.

Alarmed they had come out to see a thin, 30 - 35 year old man fleeing the scene and running off down the railway tracks. He was wearing a long sleeved black top and red shorts.

The owner of the building forced the door and they found the girl's body and called Bang Seu police who arrived on the scene with chief Sanit Mahathavorn.

Sanit told reporters that the victim was a stewardess on the Kalasin to Bangkok route and had just arrived back in the capital at 9am before going home to her lodgings.

He said that her boyfriend who works as a driver for the same company had an alibi - he was driving in the Buriram area at the time of the assault.

He added that the victim had been working on the buses for a year and had rented the room for just a month. Police surmise that the victim who was an attractive woman had other men romantically involved with her.

CCTV footage is being examined as they hunt for the murderer.

Well done Plod. Tarnish the poor lassie's name with pure speculative drivel.

Who on earth allows this kind of nonsense to be published?

It may well be true but they just can't resist can they, have to say something.

What's wrong with a vague statement that the investigation is proceeding and all possible lines of enquiry will be followed up ?

Not headline worthy I suppose, have to look as if they're on top of things from the very outset.

I think the implication was jealousy or rejection on the part of the murderer without any disrespect meant to the victim.

Except that 'romantically involved' does suggest she was getting some behind her boyfriend's back. Not the thing to say in the media, especially at the start of a case when all they have is supposition.

Calling the victim a cheating whore is pretty disrespectful. Don't you think?

That's BS.  The poor girl was probably hunted down because she was pretty, and she put up a fight so she didn't get raped.  This society loves to blame the girls for whatever violence they are at the hands of.  Very sad

...it should read 'vicious murder'....not 'stabbing'.....

...really going too far with trying to 'protect the image'.....

...as for the murderer.....' He hid the knife in a blanket'.......

..wow....

Brainless, senseless, idiot.  He should be carved up.
