Frenchman Arrested for Meth

A French tourist was arrested in Preah Sihanouk province yesterday for allegedly possessing a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, according to provincial anti-drug police.   Julien David Fleury, 31, was arrested at the 2 Lions Guesthouse in Buon village in Sihanoukville’s Buon commune at 1am yesterday, said Major Sok Bunthan, deputy chief of the provincial anti-drug unit.
 

“He was arrested after police raided his room,” he told Khmer Times. “After the raid and his arrest, police seized a package of crystal methamphetamine and other relevant drug-using materials from his room.”  
 

Maj. Bunthan said the man was a target for drug dealers who always brought drugs to sell to other foreigners in the province, adding that police had followed him for many weeks before his arrest early yesterday morning.   Mr. Fleury was preliminarily charged by police with “drug trafficking and use” and was being temporarily detained at provincial police headquarters, Maj. Bunthan added, saying Mr. Fleury would be sent to the provincial court for questioning today.
