As the title say, I would like to use an external display for my Macbook Pro 15 (Late 2011)

I want the best resolution as possible.

 

There is that Thunderbolt Display from Apple, but it might be ways overpriced...

 

Any other not Apple displays? 

Thunderbolt or Hdmi?

Is it possible to get Retina quality on the display with my specs? 

 

Specs:

Macbook Pro 15 (Late 2011)

Display 15.4-Zoll (1440 x 900) not Retina

USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
