Police are considering slapping suspected bombers alleged to be involved in the bomb and arson attacks in seven southern provinces in mid-August with charges of being an underground gang to pave the way for the seizure of their assets.

Pol Gen Srivara Rangseepramnakul, the national deputy police chief, who is in charge of overseeing the bomb attacks case, said that the Anti-Money Laundering Office had been asked to check the money trail of the suspected bombers and to seize their assets.

One of the suspected bombers was identified as Sukimun Kubaru or Lukman, aged 34, a native of Narathiwat. A warrant for his arrest was issued in 2006 by the Narathiwat provincial police, Sukimun was suspected to be involved in the robbery of a milk truck in Pattani in August and used it as a car bomb to attack the police superintendent of Waeng district on September 2.

Police in Nakhon Si Thammarat province Thursday installed a large sign showing photos of the suspects in connection to the bomb and arson attacks during Mother’s Day holidays to urge people to help giving useful information. It also includes photos of suspects from the 2015 bombing of a Koh Samui shopping mall.

SURAT THANI — A seventh warrant was issued Thursday in connection to the spree of bomb and fire attacks during Mother’s Day holiday, while elsewhere the only suspect arrested so far denied all charges against him.

Military judges in Surat Thani province approved an arrest warrant for Sukeeman Kubaru, 34 of Narathiwat province, for allegedly placing a bomb which later exploded Aug. 12 near a market in Phang Nga province. Professionally go about your duties, find proof, evidence they were involved then prosecute them. After a conviction, then confiscate assets - if that somehow makes up for their crimes. But don't hide your professional incompetence behind blanket confiscation orders.

The sooner the "government" sorts the police out the better. Remember Prayut, when this lot were, ahem, 'elected', he said they would do things no other government had the power to do in the past. Make tough choices -  like reforming the police? They have bottled it; but in Elitesville, that makes sense.

They're all sucking on the same corrupt teat.

So if this practice is to be the precedent in Thailand then it follows that anyone in Thailand can be accused of being a suspect of anything and can have their assets stolen from them.

This is a bit like the part in the Animal Farm story by George Orwell where Napoleon the Leader proves he is power hungry and steals the cows milk to feed himself and his other pig friends. Squealer his offsider has an ability to persuade all the other other animals that pigs are always moral, correct and righteous.

I think that they may be getting ahead of themselves just a tad. :D

Try a country mile. Sounds the same as the USA where they can seize your assets till you prove yourself innocent. Monkey see monkey do. No assets should be seized till they are found guilty and even then would it be legal? Opps sorry forgot article 44 "make it so Scotty"

can they really do that? there has been quite a bit of asset confiscation going on lately. foreign business owners, suspected criminals. all done without anyone being found guilty of anything. dont like the way this is heading. not a good country to own anything you cant walk away from.

Yes your right and the more you have the harder they will try to seize it.

you have to wonder if every business with a foreign work permit wont be in their sights. a lot easier to target as we are all on file with an easy to locate address. properties owned in company names would also make easy targets. wonder if he has really thought this through. cutting tax breaks to foreign owned manufacturing companies has almost wiped out foreign investment. just have to see what is next.
