Where are the many victims?

"She told investigators that she didn't know she was doing anything illegal and had not been forced into the sex trade."

No victims here . 16 or even 15 , is old enough to know what you're doing.

If the girls have no problem with it , neither should anybody else.

Society has mostly determined that 15 or 16 year old is not mature enough to fully understand what they are doing.

Yes, they understand they are having sex but No they lack the ability to understand the downside risk...like pregnancy and disease such as HIV....risks with permanent results.

The only thing harder for a 15-year old girl than being pregnant is being pregnant and having no idea who the father is. In the former there is atleast some chance of financial assistance wwhile in the latter there is just another generation of poverty being born.

A lot of negatives in and around Udon Thani these days.

Dope........Dope.........Dope............Rope!

Yeah right, all of you men out there, stop buying sex and get on masturbating until your dick

falls off....

Clearly this advise giver knows nothing about the basic fundamentals of human behavior..

Nothing.....

Ezzra, I usually enjoy your posts but this one is way out there.

Sure biology creates a strong human drive to reproduce but that impulse is curbed throughout the First World when it comes to having sex with children.

Whether these kids fully understood the seriousness of their acts is a matter of debate but their 30-50 year old johns definitely understand the seriousness of their own actions.

Don't worry...many people have hang-ups about buying and selling sex even between consenting adults....so all those morally superior people that abstain will prevent the breakdown of society.

or become celibate monks.

Considering the many reports of "Monks Behaving Badly" I would say celibacy is one of Thai Buddhisms virtues... :shock1:

"So they set up a sting operation at a local motel in downtown Udon. A 1,000 baht note and two hundreds were photocopied before the sting began so they would have evidence"

They couldn't muster up this amount in real money? Real pros there.

Anyway, ladyboy arrested so case closed. No need to go after the people paying for sex. They won't be able to pay for sex with underage girls anymore because the operation has been shut down. Good guys 1-0 Bad guys.

I think it is a poor translating error...

I think it should be "1,000 baht note and two x 100 Baht notes were photocopied..." = 1200 THB he gave the girls 1,000 and kept 200...

I thought you were joking. Quite a good one too.

Unfortunately, you weren't.

Maybe this was their joke:

"They won't be able to pay for sex with underage girls anymore"

No, a sting operation would have been to lie in wait and arrest the clients of the underage girls. Even then it doesn't mean that the customers knew the girls were underage.  The difference between a sixteen year old made up and dressed to thrill would be hard to tell from an eighteen or nineteen year old.

It's all about intent.  Did the men go to have sex with a prostitute par say or with an underage girl?

"...Men need to stop buying sex ..." He is going to stop a human behaviour of more than a 1000 years? In training to become a politician is he? :whistling:

Yep .... men need to stop buying sex !

That'll work   :shock1:

Gotta get the award for that comment  !

Sad no doubt. But what about those who are their customers? Isnt that illegal too using minors?

What the girl said about not knowing she was doing anything illegal really shows how young and nieve these young people are.  Really a very sad story about the reality of young kids on the street. Surviving  and at the same time wasting away their life's.

My wife's sister put both her daughters on the pill at the age of fourteen.  Neither appeared to have boyfriends at the time but the assumption is that at that age they would be having sex.  I say the assumption because there is rarely any dialogue between Thai kids and their parents. It is not a subject that is discussed, maybe because the parents don't want to deal with any issues that could arise.

drugs and poverty

and an unstable background

a sad tale

told by many
