BANGKOK, 24 September 2016 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has named Sorachai Pianwet the new secretary general of the House of Representatives.

According to NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, Sorachai will succeed Saithip Chaowalittawil who will retire at the end of this month. He said the new House secretary general is trusted by members of the legislature.

The assembly chief said he would soon seek His Majesty’s assent for the appointment.

Affirming transparency in the recruitment process, Pornpetch said the panel adhered to legal requirements and deliberately scanned qualifications of every candidate before make the final decision.

He said the new secretary general’s main task will be to oversee legislation related work of the parliament as well as the construction of the new parliament building.

Qualification being that every NLA member was selected and appointed by Prayut.

No outsiders need apply.
